DUDE!! She looks sick! I was given a cr80 a couple years ago when I was 16. I loved that thing to death! I'm super happy for you man. Can't wait to see more of the bike. Have you tried any wheelies yet?

I hope you rode more than 10 miles in 2 and a half hours. I could ride 30+ miles on my mtn bike in that amount of time.

No, I'm too scared.

I spent a lot of time practicing finding the friction zone, and taking off without stalling. Then I spent about an hour or something riding on the trails.

That was the proper answer my friend. I'm happy to see you taking it slow and making sure you don't get any premature scratches on that beautiful green.

But I promise you, it'll be no time before you just can't resist the urge to dump the clutch a little quick and pull that super-light front end off the ground.

You will! When I first got on that little cr80, It was shiny and pretty, not new, but pretty. And I was so scared to scratch it.

I was about to say I can only imagine how scared you are with a brand new bike, Then I remembered that my ninja had 2.1 miles on it the first time I started it. It's terrifying at first, but once things like clutch control, shifting, braking, and throttle management become second nature to you, you'll be riding it like you stole it.

Okay. I should be blipping my throttle when downshifting too, right? I noticed if I didn't, I believe my rear tire spun.

If you are downshift to reduce your speed, then just down shift and let the clutch out. This will not be as smooth but you will be able to slow down quicker.

For super smooth downshifts that feel very fluid and natural, pull in the clutch, kick down, and blip the throttle just before you let the clutch back out. This is a little harder to master. But when you do get it right, you'll definitely notice it.

Okay. Also, another question. How do I clean the spot where all the gears, and front sprockets comet together. I can't get out some straw, and don't want to damage the bike.

If you're talking about the shaft that comes out of the transmission that the front sprocket is attached to, the best way to clean in there would be to take the sprocket cover off and go to town. As for the straw or grass stuck in there, it really isn't going to hurt anything unless it's a massive amount.

Right behind the rearset, you can see some gears and some other stuff...can't really tell since it was covered in mud. I just was wondering how I could clean it out. Also, can I do motogp shifting on my bike?

You mean like having to shift up into first, then down into the next 4 or 5 gears?

I don't think so. But I'm not very familiar with those systems. So I'm not sure.

Yeah...so any ideas how I could get that stuff out...

My bike looks like it has a similar shifting linkage (I believe that's what it's called) to a sports bike...I would like to have the clearance.

I know it's dark out but try and go get a closer picture of where the stuff is. Try to get the shift linkage in the picture as well.

Yeah, im sure if I was a little more familiar with that specific bike, i could help more. But anyway, it looks like if you just take those two bolts off, the sprocket cover will come off and you should be able to get in there and get it nice and clean.

BTW, make sure you keep that chain clean and lubed after every single time you get it wet.

cyclocomputer dude. Tells your rpm and avg speed and distance and whatnot. Very useful on a road bike for your workout, and also for keeping track of maintenance intervals, like when to replace the chain, or rotate the tires for more even wear.

My mountain bike is bare though. No need for keeping track of cadence there. Just takes your eyes off the trail. Plus it is one more thing to break when you wreck.

I'll look into it. Thanks alex lol

I have a question. It says to do the first service at 5 hours... I'm not sure how to track it. Since the manual says 5 hours (1 month)...

Nick so now that you have the little 140 and it scares the crap out of you, are you a little happier now that uyou didn't get the Ninja 250 right away?
Great looking bike by the way, a good friend of mine bought the exact same bike for his 12 year old daughter and she rides the hell out of it.

Nick....get a pressure washer when you have some extra money. That's how I kept my ATV clean. Plus, it beats taking it to the car wash.

Dirt bikes are so much fun, I learned to ride on one as well.

A 1999 Suzuki RM80, that thing was a blast. Quite a bit smaller than what you have but even so the front wheel came off the ground so easy.
