Howdy from Texas

Hello from Ft. Worth, TX. Have not found our bikes yet, but thought this would be a great place to hang around and learn while we're looking.

My wife and I are 50 and will have an empty house in a couple of years. Insurance is all paid up, raising kids nearly done, we're looking for our next hobby we can do together and to make some new friends. Can't think of anything better than starting with a couple of his and hers 250's and just having some fun without a huge outlay. Wherever we go from there - bigger bikes, cruisers, whatever - doesn't really matter as long as she loves to ride for the pure enjoyment without being intimidated by the machine. Me either for that matter. Neither of us are strangers to bikes, but it has been roughly 30 years for both of us and we are treating this like we've never been on one.

So, sometime during this riding season we'll be hitting up the MSF riding course and finding our new rides.

Hey John - same part of town. Live near Oakmont Elementary and Harris SW Hospital. Until I'm seated, I'll be driving a '78 Jeep Cherokee Chief (copper-ish color) so keep an eye out.

kkim - my exact plan. It reminds me of an old Bell Helmet magazine ad from the 70's - "If you've got a $5 head, get a $5 helmet". So I'll be applying that logic to helmet, gloves, armor, boots ... everything. Protection for our old bones is definitely a priority.
