300 motor in 250 frame
After studying pictures, and part numbers, it looks like it'll fit in the 250 frame. @Lychee mentions the exact same reference points on the newgen. I don't think it'll work on a pregen motor since the mounting points are different: http://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=117632....unless you swap over the front engine mounts from that engine generation.
The intake side of the head of the motor may possibly be the same diameter as the 250 motor. If you look at the 300 TB boots, it necks down from large to small. You COULD possibly reuse your 250 carbs and rejet, but why bother when you can have full EFI! It makes me giddy thinking I can do a complete 300 motor swap in my 250 Top 3 pictures are the newgen front motor mounts. Then 2 pregen motor mounts and then 4 300 motor mounts. I'll have to see if the pre pregen motor mounts are similar.

I am currently working on this. I bought a pregen for a couple hundred bucks with a blown motor and in looking for a replacement i was able to get a 300 motor for about the same money as a 250. I can confirm that the motor bolts right in and is almost identical externally. I am going to run the 300 motor on carbs at least to start out. I am kind of at a halt right now figuring out what to do about the exhaust because it will have to be a custom job. I will post some pics next time im in the garage

I don't know the specifics of the 300 but he can reuse the stock CDI and rejet for the motor for the time being.

You'd have to look into the pick-ups for the 300 before doing that.
I know the pregen uses 4 pickups. I also know the efi version of the newgen uses more pickups than the carb version of the newgen. (From talking to shadowwolf about his oe efi retrofit). That might be the only issue with using the stock CDI with a 300 engine; too many pickups for the CDI. Might be easier to do the whole shebang at once and go with the entire oe efi setup |

Ignition system pickus- they tell the computer at what location the crank is at so that it knows when/wher to fire- just like ignition points.

There's the rub, we need to see if we can use the 250 wheel and pickup on the 300 motor. Or maybe someone has used megasquirt to run the stock efi hardware.

I would love to run efi, but I am missing a few of the sensors required and I dont have the fuel pump. I do have the complete wiring harness ecu and throttlebody assembly. I think it will be alot easier for me to get it running and dialed in on the carbs. I didn't realize the crank angle sensors are different so I will probably swap the 250 stator bits over.
Any ideas on what jet sizes I should start tuning from? |

Your cylinder size is very similar to that of a 600cc bike. What main jets do they run? 130's?

Allright so i had a few hours to play with the bike this morning, so I hooked up all the various sensors, cleaned my carbs and pulled her outside to see if it would run and if my wiring job was ok. Forgive the ****** video quality as I was trying to hit the starter button, film and work the choke at the same time.

I bet with newgen 250 it might go straight in since the front mounts are different. But to keep the pregen radiator you would need the pregen mounts. Also the exhaust needs to be modified a bit since the body on the 300 is wider than the pregen. I almost got mine running. Just a matter of figuring out where I am going to put stuff. Everything is already plugged in and figured out what i needed for the fuel pump. Should be running possibly by next week.

But I hate carbs, so I'd do anything I could to bring the 300's FI over along with the engine. If Ecotrons had a 250-style, all-in-one FI kit for the 500, I probably would've ordered it by now. |

I'm sure you could modify that system for a 500 easily. The engines are very similar to the pregen. Same number of ignition pickups (I think). You'd just need to get it wired right and fiddle with the TB's/injectors a bit. That ecotrons system is very easy to work with and tune. If you're really serious, email the company and ask about it. They're pretty good about working with you. |

@cuong-nutz If you need any sensors or small bits or ANYTHING off of a 300 to make this work, let Parts Ninja know (We are curious to see how this works out and could do special pricing on the parts), we just got a really nice condition 2013 that will be stripped down starting this weekend. We should have any part you could possibly require.

I've looked into it and the 300 and 250 flywheel have a different pickup pattern. I'm curious to how smoothing it works with a different tooth count.

The stock 300 exhaust does a S shape under the oil pan. So you could make it fit but i dont think it would clear the oil pan without any modification. Pregen doesnt work at all.
