Cat & Fiddle crash

One of my local roads, it's notorious for riders upending themselves through more balls than skill...

Link to original page on YouTube.

Looks like he came off HERE going left to right on the road

looks like he turned in way too early then couldn't do anything about it once he ran wide. If I study abroad next spring semester in manchester I'll have to make sure to ride that road.

Car didn't even stop!

It looks like it's hard to walk up hills with boots on!

What a maroon!

Good thing he had a cam. No one at the pub would believe it if he didn't.

You can see the crash site from the pub, someone was probably getting great mileage from the story by the time he walked in

It looks like he hasn't heard about the idea of late apexing; not only on that last corner, but in most of them, he seems to turn in early.

At the end he put himself in a position where he had a quick decision to make, and neither was a good option. I wonder if he thought he was going to die. Hard way to learn a lesson; hopefully he did.

I was riding by some barbed wire fences the other day and wondered how they would react to being struck by a motorcycle/rider combo. I guess this is one possible result.

Exactly why i will never group ride, unless it is on dirt bikes out through fields and off road trail riding.
People take chances that lead to someone being hurt or killed that they would not do on their own.

Is it bad that i was laughing my ass off?
Between the dumb move that got him into the wreck and then trudging up the "cliff"... (he did seem to be OK )

Yes, yes. I know i just sped up my hand-basket.

This video serves 3 purposes.
  1. Don't ride over your limit for any reason, least of all to impress your friends.
  2. ATGATT. I still can't believe he just got up and walked up the hill. Yay gear!
  3. Entertain LittleRedNinjette

Not sure if he was in a group or just "stuck" behind those other people? Either way he was trying to look bad ass and show the other riders how slow they are and how annoyed he was about the lack of speed, what a dumbass

You mention group riding offroad on trails. Riding my dirtbike on any woods trails makes me fairly uneasy as of late especially in any area that gets decent offroad traffic. I tend to stick to my secluded riding areas as of late because the thought of becoming a bug on the windshield of some ass clowns side by side isn't appealing. Single lane trails, bi-directional traffic, no rules and vehicles the size of small jeeps don't bode well for the spirited woods rider on a dirtbike

Plus the fact that I might have already had one head on collision with another dirtbike might have something to do with it

back on topic.... What a dumbass

Or a rider on a 4wheeler plows you over and you have to explain to a kid what a "safe following distance" is for a non race trail ride.

^ obviously the one who just got plowed by a 4wheeler. Those things are pretty heavy, I've only ever known 2 people who could lift them clean off the ground and of them one injured himself doing so. Add in some momentum and it just sucks more getting run over by one. I'd take the dirtbike/dirtbike collision, and that still doesn't sound fun.

rewatching the video I noticed something. The actual airtime once he's thrown from the bike feels oddly peaceful and tranquil until the violent landing where he tumbles a lot more.

think of the damage caused by getting smashed into the walls of the machine repeatedly. actually worst case is needing to replace the washer

But how much of it was him tumbling vs just the gopro? He walks over to pick it up so i think it came off his helmet early and that's the washing machine view we get.

I've heard it said a few times in here, that sports bikes just will often do just the right thing if the bloody rider will just stay the hell off the controls and let them. Maybe this bike had just had enough

Bike: "oh here we go: human ego engaged; looks like we're going round that rider."
Human: "Can't wait behind this rider any longer. A bad ass overtake will prove just how awesome I am".
Bike: "Yep... off he goes... OH s**t... we're going into this corner a little faster than he's used to. He's gonna freak. I can feel it. Yep... he's turning in and I can't even see the apex."
Human: "Yeaaaaaaah booooy. Check me out... ... huh... AHAHHHAHAHHHH OMGOMGOMG, TOO FAST."
Bike: "NOOO. Just chill squishy one. We can still make it, just push the left bar, shift your fat carbon-life-form ass to the left and let me take care of this terrible situation you've put us both in."
Human: "A CAR! I'M GONNA HIT IT."
Bike: "Your not going to hit it! Please just push the bar. There's still time!"
Human: "...mummy"

Bike: "nope... he's lost it... and here comes the fence. I'm not taking one for the team. Off you go."

...

Human: "What... happened... ?"

Between the dumb move that got him into the wreck and then trudging up the "cliff"
For me the suspense from when he hit until when he came into view of the camera was incredible! I thought if he had tumbled like that he was for certain dead!

Bike: "Yep... off he goes... OH s**t... we're going into this corner a little faster than he's used to. He's gonna freak. I can feel it. Yep... he's turning in and I can't even see the apex."

Bike: "Your not going to hit it! Please just push the bar. There's still time!"
Human: "...mummy"

Bike: "nope... he's lost it... and here comes the fence. I'm not taking one for the team. Off you go."

...

Human: "What... happened... ?"

HAHAHA AKIMA the bike whisperer……. Akima what does your bike say to you ?
