Crashed Into a Curb But I'm Ok
Yesterday on my way to work I got cut up by a truck.
For some reason I wasn't concentrating as much as usual and thus was a bit surprised and unprepared when this happened. I managed to shave off enough speed that I didn't end up under the wheels or pushed onto the curb at speed, but after I avoided impact I target fixated on the curb (going very slow at this point), hit it, and then tipped over. Once again (as with my other crash) I got lucky and managed to land at slow speed on a grass verge. <3 nature - so much nicer to land on than human made stuff I'm absolutely fine. Just angry at myself for loosing concentration and letting this happen. I consider this to be the truck drivers fault, but I always consider it my responsibility to pre-empt these kind of things. I have only superficial damage to the bike. Nothing that needs repairing. I waited about 10 minutes before starting the bike (as I assumed it would be flooded). It started first time. All of that happened on the way to work. On the way home later that day I hit a bump in the road and my rear tyre blew. FFUUUU. Was close to home when it happened though so I hobbled the bike home with low pressure.

I'm sorry this happened but very glad you weren't hurt and that your moto did not suffer a lot of damage. Maintaining your concentration at all times is important so it's good to correct yourself if you starting losing focus and start making mistakes.

I don't know why but I really liked the title of your post!!! And I like how you "hobbled" !
It's very unfortunate your tire had to blow the very same day! Super smart of you to wait before trying to start it! And I'm super glad you're okay!

Maybe because the idea of crashing into... a curb... is slightly retarded.
How does one crash into a curb?! Somehow I achieved it.

Ouch, glad you pulled of a sorta save. Is "cut up" what we call being cut off here? As in the truck pulled out in front of you??
It's your squirrely reflexes.

Curious: do you use the phrases "piss up" and "piss off"? A "piss up" is a party where the prime directive is to get drunk (not my thing, but piss-ups are very popular over here!). "Piss off" is what you say to someone who you don't want around you. Amazing the difference "up" and "off" make Not really an intuitive difference. He did. He was cold and clever about it though. He barely said anything as he clearly didn't want to give any kind of verbal acknowledgement of what he did. He did help me pick up my bike though. Which is something.

I've heard of "piss off", usually some TV show on BBC As far as the Piss up... well, I'm a college student; those are just called weekends. I don't do that too often because the aftermath is never worth it. I'm not fond of feeling sloppy and it's more fun watching your friends (loudly) the next morning anyway. |

Same. I love the taste of red wine, so I drink that to relax sometimes (when I can afford it). Larger at BBQs is also good! Otherwise I don't drink much... definitely not so much that it makes me ill. Been, there done that, not for me.

Haha, i love the different terms we use in either side of the pond.
piss up is what i would call getting wasted or f***ed up. Piss off i've used and translates just fine though i'm more likely to say f** off. A bit of a theme here.

piss up ≈ f***ed up piss off = f*** off The "off" thing makes sense a bit. You want that person to be turned off. You want to deactivate the thing that annoys you! So what is it about getting drunk that sends you up? I guess there's also the phrase "getting high". Drugs send your brain upwards into outer space

"pissed off" also means angry.
@alex.s was pissed off, so he pissed off down to the pub for a piss up with that piss head @Whiskey Yeah "piss head" is said over here too. Why the obsession with wee over here I'm not sure.
