I got the motor fired up but it looks like I have some carb issues... Bike needs choke to start and dies without it. If I keep the throttle open and close the choke the bike bogs and I smell unburned fuel out the exhaust. I let off the throttle and it dies. Time to pull the carbs again.

Rebuild the front master cylinder (kind of a waste of money, piston assembly looked fine), installed speed bleeders and had some fun flushing brake fluid without any effort for once.

Finally put the front brake caliper back on and bled the brakes a bit more for good measure. Still feels mushy though so I ziptied the lever down and will check back on it later tonight. I noticed this being an annoying problem before when I changed to SS lines. I was able to get rock solid brakes when I swapped lines on a 250 though. Are ABS brakes doomed to feel a little mushier than a bike without ABS or is there a trick to it?

Hm. I don't think this is suppose to be removed at all.

Can't help you with that one. I haven't even seen how the ABS looks like on the 300. Have you tried tapping the lines to or raising the front of the bike to move the air bubbles up towards the line in the ABS solenoid?

After bump starting my bike over a dozen times this month I finally installed the new battery I bought over a year ago. Yeah its nice to be tall enough to bump start a motorcycle on your own even on flat ground. Just realized its for the 2008 model so its a bit smaller then the 2009-2012 hope it still cranks the bike for a few years. 135cca vs 110cca may come into play down the road.

Just placed and order on partzilla for a k&n oil filter, clutch cover gasket, and starter cover gasket. Have a lot of work ahead of me on the bike. Anyone want to come over and have a bike working party.

If you ever cheap out, gasket maker works fine too.

Yeah I have gasket maker in the tool box but I do not mind spending a few dollars for replacement gaskets. Thanks for the info.

My bike does not seem to like the stock exhaust but it seems to like the straight pipe! LOL. I need to make an exhaust or find one dirt cheap.

Working on wiring my chinese Thor motorcycle alarm. Right now the bike can be started but the alarm will kick on and kill the bike. Not sure if I wired it right yet.

Other than ride it to work nothing and it feels great! The bike is running stellar, better than it ever has, I have no plans of doing any mods to it in the near future.

Smooth sailing from here on out, nothing but lubing some stuff here and there, changing oil, keeping up on general wear and tear.

Yesterday, picked up the bike after her service and marveled at the shiny new Galfer brake lines. Straight up stainless steel, no special colors for the lines or banjo bolts. Pretty!

Went for a ride....

So I went to pull over into a dirt turnoff on the side of a paved road to grab a picture of the canyon I was riding down. Guess the bike decided since I was going to take a short break, she should too.

I really hate seeing my wheels anywhere except on the ground.

(Pavement had a lip that the sun angle camouflaged. As soon as the front tire crossed over, the bump down threw off my balance and I couldn't hold the bike up. Fark! And the freaking flush mount popped a hole in my fairing! WTH?!?)

Plasti dipped the wheels white. I think it looks super sexy. So i'm going to get them powdercoated white in the future.

And I MIGHT plastidip the plastic trim under the seats white to see what it looks like...

how difficult was that to do, and let us know how it holds up in the temporary. while i am not a huge fan of such things plastidip is the exception cause you can just peel it off.

one thing I am always curious about is any "soft damage" like paint marring or swirling you get from using it

Red 250's with white wheels are the sh*t!

White wheels require a bit of preemptive cleaning to keep looking snazzy. Hope the plastidip holds up well for ya.

I didnt take off the wheels so I spent most of my time prepping and taping off areas. I have to admit, i wasn't trying to be perfect on it so its not as clean up close than it is from far away. But my plan is to hopefully not keep it on too too long. Just was experimenting. I really wanted to see what it looks like with gold wheels, but home depot only have white plastidip.

I have dipped my car wheels red on my winter wheels. By the beginning of the spring its kind of baked on there, so its hard to peel. Almost like peeling your skin after a sunburn. Sometimes youll get big chunks, sometimes its a bastard and youll get teeny tiny pieces and it will take forever. However, you can get it off better by putting on another coat.

I'm going to paint the plastic trim now because I have the day off and I'm bored. Ill post a pic when im done.

Yeah it looks like you do need them. The stock canister fits fine of course with the stock header but the 300 canister doesn't mount up to the stock 250 peg bracket.

Mastered my chain maintenance. No longer flings at all, and the chain is still sticky after a ride in the rain. No caked on grime either.

hooray for maxima and bel-ray

Replaced my flat spotted, quad dinged front wheel with a near mint condition wheel, OMG i forgot how nice it is to have a perfectly round wheel again.

Used liquid tape to waterproof wires to my LED strips, replaced spark plugs, searched for the source of a mysterious rattling sound I hear at 9+ rpm... No luck finding it

Stuck on some vanguard 3M protective film on the sidecovers of the pregen. Dunno if anyone else has had my experience, but my boots completely wrecked the clearcoat and decal near the peg on the sidecover. Wish I put the film on before that started happening...

Also, got rid of the awful wobbly loose-as-hell ebay adjustable/extendable/folding brake lever in favour of the stock one. Lever feel is like a thousand times better.
