Christmas Surprise...

Greetings from Atlanta,

I've been on here lurking for a while and reading about the fun many of you have been having on two wheels. I read about the first rides, crashes and many other experiences others have posted--all along hoping I would be able to persuade my wife into allowing the purchase.

Well, this Xmas morning while the family was exchanging gifts I opened a box with a Hotwheels motorcycle. I thought it was some sick joke when my wife said "enjoy your Hot Wheels because that's the best I can do right now." In a way I thought we were making progress and 2013 would be the year I actually get a real bike.

A few minutes later I opened a box with riding gloves and before I could say, why would I need these. The wife showed me a picture of a white Kawasaki 300 that she said she reserved for me to pick up on 12/26.

I'm going to enjoy my Hot Wheels...I'm taking the MSF course on the 28-30 so it'll be afterwards I will start riding.

With all that said, I'd like to say that I'm looking forwards to sharing in the discussions and getting to know some of you as I start what I hope to be a long and productive life as Motorcycle rider and owner.

Thank you all. I don't think I would be as excited as I am if I knew the bike was coming. Now I'm thinking, I want it in the garage right now, but I'm probably going to work something out where I can pick it up after my class. @JELLY1990, yeah, she's awesome.

We are deep in the mountains of Ellijay, GA enjoying the serenity of our cabin for the holidays. As soon as I get back to the smog filled city air near downtown Atlanta I will post as many photos as I can. I read a post on here where someone proclaimed, "if there's not pictures it didn't happen," so standby, pictures are on the way.

Wow! Enjoy your gift. What a way to reveal it. Hard to top!

A coworker of mine got a big gift early from her boyfriend and I commented on it saying "why didn't he save the big gift for Christmas?" and all she could say was that he supposedly had an even bigger gift planned. It turned out that there was a special ornament on the tree with an engagement ring inside it. She couldn't stop looking at it all day at work.

Thanks for the lively welcomes guys...today I got through me second day of the MSF course and completed the written exam. There is so much information packed into that class-- it's amazing how much of it seems like common sense.

I worked today and had to leave early in order to pick up my bike. I rode it home 15 miles. What a blast . I can now say I understand (partially) the exhilaration that riders say they experience on two wheels.

Here are a few pics of the bike. I'll post some more later to show the real beauty. The Hot Wheels on the handlebars is what I unwrapped for Christmas.

EPIC EPIC EPIC. Yup, hold on to that one tight, as she's a keeper. (The wife too.)

The good news, my friend, is that it only gets better. If you're doing it right, you'll hardly ever throw a leg over her without getting a big grin in return. Welcome to your next obsession.
