Crap, a hillbilly found the forum!

Howdy all!

I joined the site a few days ago so I thought I should take a moment to say hello. My name is Bruce and I live in Charleston, West (by God) Virginia. I joined after I was told that csmith12 posted up a video of me riding. I thought I would get on here before everyone had a chance to make fun of me.

I have been riding motorcycles since I was five years old, which was way to long ago. I started riding street bikes about 12 years ago and sport bikes eight years ago. I took a little time off here and there but for the most part I have always been on two wheels. I also ride bicycles more than any normal person should. I think I just like the way the lycra feels on my tushy but I would never admit to it.

Unfortunately I don't have a 250 or a 300 Ninja and never have. I do know that they are amazing bikes though I have recommended them to many, many riders. I currently ride a 2013 Ninja 636 on the street and a 2004 CBR600RR on the track. I just started riding on the track in April and I am completely hooked.

Thank you. I haven't been there yet. That track is about 5-1/2 hours from me. My track of choice is Mid-Ohio which is a little less than four hours. The only other track I have been to is VIR.

Hi! I love your 636! The CBR really stands out at the track too.
Oh, and welcome I had a blast at the track with you and csmith12.

oh that reminds me

how does the cbr600rr compare to the 636? I'm looking into getting an r6/cbr600rr someday as a track/street bike but a 636 is a possibility too

I would absolutely love to take my 636 to the track. I just can't risk it. I can't make myself take a bike to the track that I have a payment on. It just has so much more power than the 10 year old CBR. However, the CBR does have Ohlins suspension so that helps out in that area. Unfortunately it is sprung for someone 50 pounds lighter than me. I am hoping to change that over the off season.

With that said, I'm a Kawi fan. I plan on riding the CBR for another season and then upgrading to either a ZX6R or an R6. There is no denying how awesome the R6 is on the track.

the r6 is one of the best track bikes money can buy for sure, I got to ride csmith's at mid-o it was great

if you're trying to sell that cbr in a year or so and don't completely wreck it I'll be in the market for a 600cc track bike around that time, I want to do a full season on my 250 first and get an enclosed trailer lol

Fellow hick here... SW Pa.

We ride in W.Va all the time, we're lucky to have such great riding in our area. There's not many straight roads in the mountains.

Yes I am. I have been neglecting it lately though. I have had some health issues that have really hurt my riding. I'm slowly getting back into it.

Here are a couple of my bikes.

TT's. I'm in no way a runner. I sold the Zipps on the road bike to pay for my track bike (CBR).

Yeah, retail on each of those bicycles is around $10,000 to $12,000.

Lol. People get all bonkers when they see the price of nice bicycles. There's just as much, if not more engineering and testing that goes into high end bicycles than people think. Just because it's a simple machine doesn't mean it's not expensive to design and produce.

Looks like a fun couple bikes. TT riders are a unique bunch. Racing the clock takes a special person. I prefer climbing but I'm just average.

I used to love climbing, now I just suffer through them. I used to race a lot in Ohio. I would do the Columbus series on Saturday then go to Cincinatti to race on Sundays. I made it to cat 3. I made it to expert racing mountain bikes. Then I had four knee surgeries. Now I'm fat and suffer constantly.

I already have some questionably tendinitis in my left knee... I just do long warm ups and gradual cool downs and lots of stretching. I also know how hard and how long I can push while riding.

The tri team is trying our hand at a couple Cat 5 races this fall and upcoming spring. Gonna see how it goes. Unfortunately there's only 3 MTB races sponsored by my local racing org, and they're all 3 hours away from school and during the year. March-July can be a wash with MTB because of all the snow that melts in spring and all the rain we get in early summer. I'll have to attempt some of that after graduation.

Beautiful bikes, all of them. I've been trying to get into MTB but it's hard starting out when your carrying 40 extra pounds. But it sure is fun.
