I like the way it looks. Specs look great, especially the low weight. But the 2.6 gallon fuel tank worries me a bit. Riding it swiftly could mean a range of right around 100 miles.

Interesting design. Shame they didn't go with the Moto3 fairings. Depending on the price I might be interested...since it's only got 1 cylinder I'm assuming it's a budget bike?

Well, they have made some questionable styling decisions in the past, at least.

Right... but that one's so questionable it's actually pretty good looking. It would be like riding around on a Halloween costume, complete with black and orange color scheme.

Eh, I am now used to filling up around then anyways with my KLX250 which only has a 2 gallon tank. But I can see many people complaining about that. Doesn't bother me a bit, just less weight! This isn't a bike you would want to cruise on for more than 100miles based on those race-like ergos anyways. Fill up the tank and stretch your legs. And repeat until satisfied/sore. |

I like the way it looks and I like the suspension. I like the power to weight ratio too,.. but I like this package better as the 390 Duke.
I'm just not sold on the thumper motor in a sport bike, needs at least one more cylinder IMO. So no, I won't be selling my ninja 300 for one.

Um, I'm not big on thumpers, but I will seriously drop coin for this bike in a heartbeat. Billet swingarm, proper suspension, underbody exhaust, trellis frame and 43hp. Its about time someone figured out how to make a small displacement sportbike.

If it was twin cylinder then I would already be making down payments for it.

If it was a twin I'd hate it
Light sporty thumpers suit this style sportsbike. Not sure if its really what the USA market is into, you probably wont 'get' it, that's why so many small bikes havnt been released in the US over the past 3 decades. |

Light sporty thumpers are called supermotos, and they're way lighter and just as powerful as this bike.

That spec sheet looks fantastic except the small gas tank. Good to see someone finally debut a small bike that's not made with the intent of selling to only the novice crowd. *fingers crossed* |

We were disagreeing with max @Trailerboy531 about 390's headlights earlier. He hates them. I kinda like it. I'm tired of seeing "pissed off eyes" kind of headlights on every sport bike nowadays. |

Yeah I like how there's a whole sculpture to the front of the 390 and headlights are inside that form. Instead of what a lot of bikes do nowadays which is just stick the headlights on the front just flat.

Is it 43hp at the rear wheel or at the crank?

I think it looks like an excellent street bike, but it suffers from the same problem as the Honda. My 250 will lap the Honda 250 on the track because it can't rev. Its a shame the bike looks so track capable, but lacks a cylinder.

Well this one isn't exactly a looker. Seems the front end design department was told they were making an enduro while the rest of the team was working on a sportbike. Specs are nice but a single? PASS!

Revs are necessary for an effective track bike. That's why you only see freak ducati v twins on the track. Singles have great off the line punch. I would wager the thumper Honda is a better street bike than the 250. (I haven't ridden one so i can't say for sure)

Below article says the slide was at the KTM North American dealer meeting. Soooo I assume it will be available for the US?
"The 2014 KTM RC390 has been a long-time coming, as news of the bike has been in circulation since a leaked slide at the KTM North American dealer meeting hit the internet over two years ago. Built off of the KTM 390 Duke street bike, KTM said the RC390 would have “Moto3 inspired” bodywork when it debuted." http://www.asphaltandrubber.com/bike...os/#more-49016 |

Lots of reasons, some true, some exaggerated, some false.
It's more a case of marketing / engine characteristics. Expect the 390 to RC390 to be more powerful than the Ninja 300, more so with a power tuning to bring it above the A whatever limits for europe. I think the duke would have done better if the guy didn't bounce off the rev limiter so much, and the RC390 would be more aerodynamic. |

Singles are much better on change of direction.
plus the 390 has a decent frame, and is lighter. My cbr250 was 2 secs slower (at the time) vs my EX250 at one track, and 3 secs at a more open track, Ninja is faster as can hold a gear for a lot more sections and gets a higher top speed, but feels like a heavy porker and very vague in its handling in comparison, it pushes the front .. but have learnt to ride it on that mushy edge. (0.3 secs off local 250 laptime so right on pace) I'd guess the 390 to be as agile as the cbr250 but more power than a Ninja 300 quality aside, it should be a little demon. (we hope) Corner speed is king. |

^PS both those riders could do with a huge improvement, they lose so much!
Gear changes (clutched!) and are rough as guts, the 300 wobbles away off the line with BOTH feet out, the 390 keeps hitting the limiter every gear. They could take at least a second or two off. |
