gettin' back into riding.......
Hey everybody........old guy(kinda,45) planning on getting back into serious riding after a 20yr layoff. Have an '88 Hurricane(cbr) 600 that is just sitting in the yard and I haven't ridden in a year or two. Still ride motocross a little around the house(I live in the wood, no neighbors ) and hit up the track on the occasional Saturday but haven't raced in about 3 years. Spent 5 or 6 years living in the DC metro area without a car so I have a good bit of experience riding street bikes.
Currently I live out in the country and have a 100 mile round trip commute 4 days a week. The price of fuel is starting to get a little out of hand and I don't see that changing in the future. More than likely just getting worse. Decided to buy a ninja 250 for the gas savings and the desire to get back into riding. Ended up finding one for sale less than 10 miles form my house. Figured it was meant to be considering I live in the middle of nowhere and there are only 6 fore sale within about 150 miles from here. What are the odds of one being so close. So I bought it. 2009 Ninja 250. 2500 miles. CThunder blue. $3000 out the door(tax, title, tags) from private dealer. It was dropped over on it right side and the fairing has a crack about 6 inches long and the exhaust is a little scratched. Other than that it is in perfect condition. Probably be a couple weeks bore I can pick it up due to a planned trip out of town ...... but am looking forward to doin' some freakin' ridin' again! Anyway, that's my story and I am stickin; to it. Looking forward to being a member of the board.

Welcome to the forum and welcome back to riding! I too took a 20 year break. Dang, I didn't realize 45 was "kinda old" - LOL! I guess I just can't act my age! :-) No worries about that though... I see lots of retirement-age dudes riding around here in the So Cal desert. Most of them are on huge bikes too and they're probably among the best riders out there. Be safe and enjoy!

Welcome home. The 250 will keep the cost of tickets down, losing your days pay (or two) before even earning it. I had the same commute 5 days a week and bought a ninja 650 cause the 250 wasn't cutting it for me. The ride was awesome but the tickets killer and thankfully the points got spread out between two states. Best of luck.
