My New GPS Setup (Rokform)

Not sure if I'm posting this in the correct area or not, oh well.

Anyways after getting lost countless times I decided it was time to get a GPS rigged up.

I went with Battery Tender for my USB charging solution and Rokform for my mounting solution.

I have to say these are top quality products. Not only is the Rokform case an awesome mounting solution, but it's a very good case in its own right. I would say it's on par with the Otterbox cases.

The Rokform case is made in the USA and comes in plastic and aluminum versions. The case offers many accessories from mounts to bottles openers. On the back there is a magnet embedded in the case. You can just slap it onto your fridge or what ever.

The handlebar mount has a magnet in the middle in addition to the RMS mount. It makes for a super secure attachment. I use a similar setup mountain biking and have never had any issues.

Really the only downside I see is this setup wouldn't do well in the rain. Although they do include a bag to put over the phone, but I'm skeptical.

Looks good. The setups I'm used to seeing are big and clunky.
GPS is great, but too distracting for me. I keep it in my tankbag and use it when I stop. Still carry maps, too.

I tend to lead a few guys when I ride so GPS is a must. No one likes doing multiple uturns because I missed our turn. m

The good old map and tank bag works pretty well when riding solo though.

I like having a GPS when I need to know when/where the next gas stop is.

One of the good things about having a phone there is being able to also load a weather app so you can see what is ahead of you if you are riding far. It's a handy place to have available data.

very nice

I think I'll be copying this almost exactly. My phone contract ends this winter and I feel it's time for an iPhone. I was originally thinking of getting a tankbag but I like this idea more because of the usb charger.

This is the very reason that the idea of leading a group ride scares me a bit without a gps to know for sure where I'm going.

Getting lost and taking way too long to get somewhere on my own is fine with me though, more sights to see

Completely agree, when I ride by myself I just pick random roads and have a good time. When I ride in a group I like to know exactly where I'm going.

looks great.. the mount pricing is a little scary but usually .. usually.. paying more is better quality.

Cheap this solution is not, but it is a quality product. The mounts are very nice. Additionally it's made in the USA which is a selling point for me.

I had originally bought into the system for my bicycle. They offer a very similar mount that allows for attachment in place of a stem cap.
