New 250...what a great decision!

So after debating on what to start on, and really wanting a Yamaha FZ-6 or Kawi 650R I ignored friends and my brother in law and listened to all of you and got a 2008 Ninja 250R. What a great choice to start on, thank you all. I got my license about 4 years ago after taking the MSF course - another great call - but just now got around to finally getting the bike.

After some time in the parking lot doing some basic moves, quick stops and getting comfortable with it, I headed out and put 65 miles on it going from Ossining, NY to White Plains, on down to my parents house for a quick visit in Yonkers and then back to Ossining. A little sore today, but jumped back on it for another ~50 miles with a round trip to Stamford, CT through the back roads.

Cannot be happier with the bike, and am very glad I ignored the local peer pressure and went with the 250 to start. I know it will make me a much better rider, and get me more comfortable much quicker.

Yonkers, NY

Stamford, CT

Back at home in Ossining, NY

My name is Chris too, also new to the forum with a new bike.

Nice blue 250! I would have had to pay an additional $100 for the blue one, for some reason the red was marked down $100 versus the blue, so got the red. Thought that was weird.

I am really having fun with mine and enjoying this forum so far.

Welcome Chris - great choice! I'm glad you're happy with her! Just take it slow - I know it's easy to be over-confident even when you've had the MSF previously - it was 5 years from my course until I got my bike... and I lost it on day 2 of riding her.... so take it nice and slow!

hmmmm, no no no, only meant that blue is the sexist color. Which means that folks who ride blue bikes ARE the sexist.

Sweet bike, love the blue. Good on ya for following what you wanted, I have been riding on the street a long time and love the 250. A buddy of mine just started riding a 250 also, everyone told him he HAD to get "at least" a 600... anyway, congrats and I like your garage too!!

Thanks for the welcome guys/gals.

hahaha...sexiEst color - YES!

ATGATT - YES! Although it's tough when even my wife says to me "You're only wearing all that stuff 'cause you're just starting out right? I mean the jacket I understand but those pants too?!" lol - Who would've thought I would get peer pressure from my wife not to gear up!

I don't have a garage so yeah, I have to spoil her and bring her in the house. lol. After a good run she deserves a drink too...

Lucky for me it's a slate floor so really can't damage it. Makes me almost glad I don't have a garage. Wife didn't even flinch when I said I was bringing it in the house.
