No, you'd have to buy a Triumph 675 Daytona instead

How's the wind at, say, 75mph or so on the StripleR? Man, that video has me hooked, and I know where one's sitting on a dealer's showroom floor, all lonely & s***. I guess I'm just a big softhearted fool, I feel sorry for all those bikes...especially the pretty ones.

I have a striple in matte grey. I love that bike, and if I had one complaint it would be the lack of wind protection. If you ride it on the highway for any length of time, it is fatiguing. Other than that, the bike is so much fun and when I go from the 250 to the striple I have to remind myself not to roll on the throttle. It has a lot of punch. Every bike has it's purpose, that's why you can't have just one.

I really don't recall what Triumph calls the parts but I have the small screen with a smoke color visor on top of that. I'm not a huge fan of the look, but as far as wind protection goes I find it pretty serviceable at 75+. When I'm in really dirty air (think windy, or lots of large semis) then I feel more buffeting than I remember on my Ninja - but in smoother air I don't have any issues.

Somehow that was a legitimate sale offer. 40% over MSRP and $1700 on my 2010 EX250J with 123XX miles on it. Good thing the new bike is something that I want, not something that I need.

I haven't been back.

Haha I am glad you didn't bite on that offer
If a dealer does the whole take my info then start writing numbers I just walk away. I cannot stand Somone who cannot just openly discuss w me what we can do.

Haha upgrading should not mean taking a bath.

Stupid salesman

the $7990.00 Yamaha FZ-09 would have been a better buy anyhow... but the Triumph is a nice bike.. but not $14,000 nice.. not $12,000 nice either.

agreed, I can get one brand new for ~$7500.00 so long as I buy in the winter, my local dealership doesn't really move triumphs very well so they tend to be a bit more aggressive with their price discounts. You'd be hard pressed to get the same luck with the daytona 675 though lol

I'm personally torn between getting a cbr600rr/r6/daytona675 this winter/next season as a street/track supersport so I can go fast in the straights as well as the corners

You can't go wrong either way with those choices. Though... imho, out of those the r6 is the hardest to ride and take advantage of. I know I say alotta good stuff about r6's, but the truth is, they are not all that and a bag of chips, but if you can ride them "in the zone"..... ya gunna be hard to beat. Like I said in another thread, you have to take advantage of where they are great, late braking and keeping the rpms up, ect... ect.. much like the 250.

The cbr is a fantastic 600 machine, does everything pretty good and with the right rider, it does a few things fantastically. Even though I want one, I need more seat time on a 675 at pace to make a formal decision. Right now, I want it just for a street bike. It must prove itself to me on the track.

In due time..... in due time....

so many bikes, so little money

I'm dying right now, there are a couple really cool bikes for sale locally that I would love to snag up but even if I have the money to buy them, I don't have the money to put into them

I used to get all horned up over the Daytona 675r but it is wearing off, still think they are cool but not "I neeeeed it" cool

Petes Cycle in baltimore. I saw a 2012 street triple r going for $7,499 last winter. It may have helped that there was a model update in 2013 but the bikes all get cheaper in winter already anyway. Generally the models that they're trying to clear out before the year ends are the cheaper ones (i.e. if there's a 2012 lying around in december they'll try to push it)

they actually have a pretty good condition newgen ninja 250 (in green) going for $3200 right now with something like 4xxx miles

Sweet ride. Does that have the quickshifter up?

It's probably a good thing that I haven't gotten a chance to test ride one. I've resisted buying everything so far.

Aye, that it does. I thought it would be hard to get used to but now it's second nature to kick it up without the clutch. Still getting used to it though; used inexpertly it clunks quite a bit.

Congrats! I bought my first Triumph triple last fall in a Sprint 1050GT. Love the triple cyl. It's torquey like a twin, but the power is linear like an inline 4. Best of both worlds.

What does the X get that the R doesn't?

From the posts above and from the picture, I see:
Quick shifter
Windscreen
Header fairing
Rear seat cowl

Am I missing anything else? It looks absolutely amazing. I want the Street R, but don't want to get rid of the 300.

Keep us updated from time to time once you rack on more mileage!

I don't know if anyone heard 800cc rumors for the next street triple? I hope they to bump it to 800. This way I can pick up the 675 generation for a discount!!

Add the matte silver color and red wheels and your list is complete!

They didn't have a white one and weren't getting another until next year so I really lucked out. I'd probably have gotten most of those accessories anyway so it saved me a few bucks, and this is the only 2016 STRX sold in the state.
