how long has that ladder trick been in the book? because that is legit, probably not that reliable but good enough for the 250, no?

This isn't the first pic of a bike hanging from a ladder that has been posted on this site. Been at least a year now. Reliable? Sure, well... maybe a bit unstable at times, just be mindful of the weight limit of the ladder and your strait.

And yes, I learned it from CB also.

I think this was the first time I tried it. That was several years ago. It seems to work well for 250's and 600's so far. I don't see why it wouldn't work for 1000's but I don't think i'd try it on any sport touring or touring bikes.

Typical weight limits for ladders are like 250-300 lbs right?

Yea, 375lbs is the heaviest duty ladder I have seen. 200-225lbs is light/medium duty and what most homeowners have.

I change fork oil 3-4 times a year. Granted I track only but still. Think about changing it more often..

Also a +1 on ECU flash. I've changed sprockets, got a full exhaust, race airfilter, delete smog system and bunch of other stuff. ECU throttle mapping + fuel mapping + engine brake adjustment + few others were by far the most effective in comparison to all other performance mods I've done.

does your fork oil really degrade that quickly or are you just changing for weight?

It's to protect forks more than anything. When I pour the old oil out it's watery and dark grey. So yes, it does degrade that quickly.

The difference in weight is so ridiculous... And I never thought it would make that much of a difference therefore I resisted for a long time. Boy was I wrong.

Bike is back together enough to run. Still not rideable but it will be soon.

He sent the ECU to Bauce Racing and had Anthony do it. Working on zeroing out his Power Commander as I type this.

The bike comes apart and goes back together pretty quickly.

This video is with a 2 brothers slip on, gutted the cats, aftermarket mid pipe and the ECU tune.

Link to original page on YouTube.

Yay! she's on her own 3 (?) feet again!

My paint job on the exhaust was nice but not so much on the rearsets. I'm going to have those painted by the same person doing the plastics.

Apparently in VA you can get away with plates like this....

get one of those retractable plates where you pull a lever and they come up completely out of sight. A great investment on any street supersport or superbike.

on a separate note, that exhaust sounds amazing, very nice work that you've done to it so far.

Current round of parts ordering:

Driven sprockets. Black. -1 in the front stock back.
Gold chain
Stomp Grips
Vortex adjustable rearsets

And the side panel thingies have been reworked to this...

Thanks for the feedback guys!

ooh stomp grips and adjustable rearsets at the same time. That should make a huge difference to your cornering confidence on the bike while hanging off.

636 guy is out in Colorado skiing this week so I haven't done the valves on it yet. Did get some stuff done on the r6 though. Besides the new front tire we did some fairing prep for paint.

Okie dokie. I have very few requirements but if you meet them I'm generally happy to work on anyone's stuff. Or you could ship it down here for the winter. Gives me something to do and therefore keeps the general public safe.

The bike is staying the same color. It's a sparkle laced black much like the 09 black 250. Acura calls it flamingo or something.

The CF wrap is awesome 10x5ft was $60. I wrapped my cell phone in it. Near stuff.

The rest of the parts should be here this week. I haven't told the owner that im going to be the first one to ride it.

@Klondike1020 this is for a friend and thanks for the compliment.

I've had the flu the last week or so and haven't updated. The chain should be fitted and the bike should be ready by Saturday. The fairing bolt kit just came in. All of the fairings painted and finished. All aftermarket parts installed except for the StompGrips.

Oh and I didn't do the painting on the fairings. I can't do stuff like that. I did help with the prep work but I definitely won't take credit for the paint.

A couple of hours after that last photo was taken we started making adjustments. David, myself and 2 other friends went to grab some food and David had an accident.

We rounded a corner we've been around literally a few thousand times. He went wide on the corner, down into a ditch and into a tree. He and rag-dolled for about 50' and the bike landed back on top of him. He's relatively alright with a crushed tailbone and a broken L1. The orthopedic surgeons say he doesn't need surgery and fitted him for a back brace. He's been recovering at my house for the last few days and has been in great spirits. He can't wait to ride again, though probably on a 250 to start back off on.

Sorry to hear about the accident. His injuries sound serious enough, but glad it wasn't worse.

Sad to see all your hard work in a wad like that...

That is definitely one mangled mess of a bike. keep us posted on recovery.

Oh yeah, tell him he is doing it wrong, you wreck a 250 then get an R6.... not the other way around

@subxero I told him you thought he was crazy for going to a 250 instead of a 1000 or something like that. He got a kick out of it.

I'm sure it'll be a long recovery process but he's a trooper. I'm more worried about his family driving him nuts at this point.

It is a shame that beautiful bike went down and it was a lot of hard work but obviously we are more concerned about his health at this point.

There wasn't a single salvageable part we could find on the bike. Both of the rims were creased in from hitting the tree and then the edge of the road surface. The forks were both broken in half. The engine was cracked in half and the headers were flattened against the engine block. The swingarm was cracked, the triple tree was broken in half. Both sets of rearsets were gouged out and one side was broken in half. The frame had cracks in it. Actually come to think of it I think the chain ended up being ok. Go figure. There are some parts we still haven't found.

I'm pretty impressed he only came away with a broken back and a couple of very small scratches.

damn, that's a cruel reminder of how fragile bikes can be in a crash.

Luckily he wasn't injured more severely, I send my regards for a full recovery with track days on that 250 when he gets it.

Such a bummer. Glad he made it out with non life threatening injuries!

I will pray for a solid recovery. Patience and persistence.

its so sad all that work all blasted away in a fraction of a second.

may the Yamaha rest in peace. ..
