I think the rider is a girl.

I guess it wouldn't take much input to loose traction at that lean angle. I thought I saw the ninjette suspension bounce before she crashed. Maybe she jerked the throttle?

could it be that there was slippery spot (oil droplets, coolant) on the corner and they both managed to hit it, one right after another?

Dunno why exactly the 250 rider crashed, but that's not the reason the rider who filmed it crashed.

Looked to me like the rider filming grabbed the front brake hard as a reflex as the lead bike went down in front of him/her.

Others have commented that. Mostly just too close though so he didn't have time to react properly.
