New poster from the North Bay

Hey everybody,

I picked up a 2010 SE for a good price in SF last April (someone bought it new, drove it home, then took it back, had 84 miles on it so they couldn't sell it as new) and have been having a blast with her ever since. After I left the Navy I wanted to get a bike, and I decided on the 250 partly because of the love you guys showed for them on this forum (and partly because my brother told me I would kill myself on a Hayabusa :-).

I am definitely happy with my choice, and I've been slowly modding it to make it mine. All have been cosmetic so far, but after reading the epic stories of converting it to EFI, I bought shoeprotectors kit and will be installing it as soon as it arrives (probably next weekend). I've got some great riding in, and so far I haven't dropped it while riding, although I did drop it once while putting it on the stand...really depressing...and embarrassing. Hopefully I'll have some stories or experiences to share in the future.

Heres the pic from when I bought it...

I hope you don't ride looking like that (lack of gear).

I'll take some tomorrow before I completely disassemble it. They have all been subtle changes so far though, fender eliminator, flush led signal lights, cowl cover (with new rubber oring using the zip tie mod because I was losing about one a week, now it works like a charm), sliders, tank pad, and I replaced the no name tires that were on it with some bt-45s. It basically looks like a cleaner version of the original, but nothing drastic. Hopefully after this weekend I'll be able to add that its fuel injected, its a perfect time to do it because its supposed to be raining all weekend anyways.

@Eric, of course I don't ride like that...I put a helmet on :-) If I ever go for long rides (or its cold and/or raining) I always wear full protective gear, including riding boots and knee pads (it hurts like hell if you go on the freeway and a semi shoots a rock at your knee...I normally stick to back roads when I can anyways.)

Update...

So here are some pics of my bike, and since last time I posted I converted her to Fuel Injection, although its still kind of a work in progress (Its installed, and she starts, but I think she is mad at me :-) . Hopefully by the end of this weekend she'll be happy again.
