Kerker. Looks very close to the Muzzy (changed names?). Came with a very melted lower fairing as well.

There's no interference with the centerstand, there's just no stop for it when you have a full exhaust. Know that knob on the bottom of the left exhaust can? That's not there with a 2-1 exhaust. When you pull the bike off the centerstand, the stand just slams into the swing arm. Not cool in my books.

Aka, remove the darn thing. You can use a swing arm stand for the majority of service that you do. For the swingarm/unitrak service, you just use a ladder and some jack stands. Or you put the centerstand back on momentarily.

No, not the same company. Totally different looking exhaust canisters as well. Mine has not yet melted my fairing, and it's been about 3000 miles.

Ah. That explains it. My parts bike didn't have the exhausts installed and I never noticed that it wasn't supposed to rest the way it was and my third one has been garaged since getting it a couple months ago.

Shiny Aluminum tape would help reflect some heat. Give that a try. You could also try using some washers on the chin fairing mount to shim the back of the chin fairing out a little so it's further from the header.

Mine doesn't have any modifications and is fine.

Don't forget to add a washer or two under the carb needles. A full exhaust does great things for the mid-range and throttle response. Take advantage of it with the jetting

The previous owner blamed the owner before him for letting it idle in place when fully warm, so: When the engine is hot, KEEP MOVING!

I've seen a lot of F-bikes with melted lowers, so I'm pretty sure it's a problem with the stock header too.

I think header wrap + factory heat shielding + not letting it idle hot (turn it off is stuck in traffic) should do the trick. Leave the fairing off if doing maintenance that required idling it or have a box fan nearby (cooling system only cares about engine temps and not ambient temps around exhaust headers).

Related question: Are fiberglass fairings more or less resistant to heat?

It definitely is. The side that currently has no header (the right side) is warped from hot stock headers. Always has been. But the Muzzy has caused no issue.

Hey that looks really good! I never would have thought to use those triangle lights as replacement running lights for the reflectors. I just left those on there and made my flushmounts into running lights and turn signals.

Nice work

Thanks,
Those reflectors bugged the heck out of me and I want to be seen better at night. Drove home from work tonight and they are really bright...so much so the ground underneath the bike is amber. I wish the Asian flushmounts were still available but I'm just gonna fab up some sort of flushmount to the signal base then wire them as turn/running lights.

Today I didn't really do much to my ninjette except ride it....to the DMV where I passed my motorcycle license exam! Hooray for me being a fully licensed rider!

However, tomorrow I will be taking the wheels off in preparation for the new Bridgestone BT45's that I will be treating her with.

I unfortunately flew back home to CO and sold it. I always felt like I'd keep it forever but 3 years later its left the building. Miss it already...But its replacement is quite interesting.

Rode it for the first time in 80*+ weather since I fixed all the issues from last summer. My bike definitely loves warm weather. Everything just feels better.

Got my Kerker exhaust in the mail yesterday. After a quick inspection, it looks brand spanking new! The plastic protector is still covering the logo on the can.. $100 shipped, what a deal!

I still have to double check that all of the hardware is there.
