Fluttering noise coming from front of bike.

Hello, ninjette community.

A couple of weeks ago I started noticing a noise coming from the front of the bike, a noise that sounds similar to a flag quickly flapping in the wind. My 2011 250r has almost 25,000 miles and I can hear the noise between 3-5 thousand RPMs. I'm not sure if the sound goes away after 5,000 or I simply can't hear it over the engine anymore. I'm thinking it's the valves but I'm not 100% sure. I haven't have a valve adjustment in a while so that would lend credence to that theory. I haven't had a problem with how the bike runs, though. If anyone has had a similar problem please let me know.

So, it is not related to the speed of the bike?

Can you reproduce it even when not rolling, just by reving up?

It's not based on speed or load. I can choke the bike between there and hear it and rev the bike myself to hear it. It's usually more noticeable on decel than excel.

My bikes speedo / cable made a funny noise, now my speedo has given up the ghost and it's in the shop.

It's a possibility.

Have you checked that your spark plugs are tight?

Have you checked that your exhaust headers are tight and leak-free?

Have you serviced your cam chain tensioner?

Have you checked the bolts that anchor the engine to the frame?

Have you checked the bolts that keep the plastics together?

What kind of mods do you have on the bike?
Have you put your head close to the engine while it is idling?
Does it sound like a popping on decel?

Oh man getting a lot more back than I thought. I'll need to check those out, I do plan on changing my plugs within the next week. I haven't put my head down by the engine and revved only about the tank.

Next time you hear it pull in the clutch and see if it stops (making the noise). Check all the bolts on the fairing and fender.

If all else is exhausted, it also could be coming from your visor.

Clutch doesn't make a difference the noise comes with a load or without. That would dispute the visor or fairings as well.
