Is this a misfire?

Hey all,

So just a quick preface, my bike runs relatively well. I don't feel any major issues when riding. However, I was working on my bike with my dad (who has worked with cars for decades and is an engine expert), and he pointed out that at sustained medium-higher RPM's, it sounds like there's a misfire. After he pointed it out, I noticed it - it's like a quiet irregular gurgle or series of pops, hiding behind the normal sound of the engine. While I've only owned this particular bike for a few months, I've ridden it for years, and as far as I know, it's sounded like this for as long as I can remember. But hey, if it's something I can straighten out to make the bike perform better, why not? So my question is this - does this sound like a characteristic of the Ninja engine?

Sounds like it could be a few things. If it is a misfire i would think you should be able to feel it when riding the bike. You say medium-high sustained rpms, do you notice it at all throttle positions? example. You only notice it at WOT, or you only notice it at 1/2 throttle ect...

When i was jetting my new gen after i removed airbox and installed full exhaust my main jet was running very rich. so at Mid-high rpm at WOT i had a miss fire type feel. When i leaned out the main jet it all went away and all is well.

I only ever actually notice it when it's not in gear, usually on the center stand, I don't notice it at all when I'm riding. Above the normal idle speed, starting at maybe 3500, it pretty much occurs at any RPM.
