Smile My first ever track day.

Well it wasn't at Mid-Ohio, and I wasn't riding the ninjette, but it's still a track day.

This morning I rode the KLX down to the Circleville cart track and had a total blast. Didn't really know what to expect so I went down there as prepared as I could. Requirements were pretty much the same as every track. Full leathers, boots, back protector. I had all that stuff so that wasn't a problem.

They didn't have any rules for passing, like they do for beginners at Mid-Ohio. Only rule was that if you were getting passed in a turn, to hold your line.

I didn't do any prep to my bike, and I was supposed to have bolts safety wired, and not running coolant, but they let that slide. I also had to tape up my lights, and remove the kickstand. I didn't bring tools, but luckily everyone there was more than willing to help me out.

Only four other supermotos there today, but I wasn't there to race the other guys. I just wanted to get in some track time in and gain some experience.

Everything went pretty well. No close calls, and I wasn't the slowest person out there. About halfway through the day I figured out that I was faster through the turns hanging my knee out and not leg out.

There were also other classes racing. The most competitive one was a mix of xr-100s and mini supersports. One of the fastest was an 11 year old kid on a 100cc four stroke mini. I have a video of him blowin by me through one of the turns in morning warm ups. lol

Took a few pics, and got some video. I'll link the vids once I get them uploaded.

150 rear tire is a little too big for the klx, but it looks cool.

Check it out a 2:20. The person that passes me, that's the kid that's 11, he was pretty bada$$.

What I learned from the video. I need to brake later, be more aggressive in the corners, and work on my lines.

That's an interesting track. The little bikes don't seem to suffer too badly with the horsepower deficit.

Get in on the mini road racing. It's cheap and its the reason I'm as successful as I am. Those nsr mini road race bikes with xr100 motors are fast.

Grovetucky must be referring to Grove City then! I'm from Pataskala, myself. I didn't even know that track existed! I'll have to look into it. Looks like fun! Great video

Awesome! I wish there was a cart track near me so I could ride my KLX like that. Mmhm. Need to research where the closest one is.

Here was the last bit of video that I shot for the day. The supermoto class was unlimited, and I was up against a CRF 250 and a couple of 450's, all with slicks on them.

I must have been doing better in this race, because I only got lapped once. lol

By golly, I think he's got it.

Yeah come down and join us if you can, I know there were a few people from your area. Check out the Ohio Mini Roadracing League website for the schedule. There are 3 races left, with an endurance race at the end of the season.

I'm kinda thinking about picking up a XR-100 to race next year. There's a lot more participation in that class.

ha ha . I actually did finish 3rd in the first race. Only cause the guy with the KTM couldn't get his bike started, he almost didn't get it started for the second race either.
