Heading to SC in January

As the title states, I will be heading to South Carolina at the end of January/beginning of Feb. My stepson will be graduating from Parris Island boot camp.

I am seriously considering trailering both bikes down and spending a week maybe 2 exploring the roads and maybe some trackdays. Any suggestions?

will do, he was born in upstate NY, but lived most of his life here in Canada. He could have joined the forces up here, but he wants to be with the best.

I was going to say make sure you check the weather/temperature for that time of year there (I assume almost everyone on this forum is from sunny South California ). But then I saw you were from Toronto and was like "oh... no need, winter in SC will be like summer come early for this guy"

Having been stationed in the "Low Country" @ MCAS Beaufort for several years, the weather during that time of year sucks. Cold and rainy for the most part. Not too many good riding roads in the area, but a lot of scenic ones. Much nicer to ride there when it's warm and dry. Carolina Motorsports Park is about 3 hours away in Kershaw, SC

Your better twisty roads are going to be north , in and around the mountains on the SC, NC, GA, & TN borders.

Forget the bikes and just bring your appetite. Low country food is excellent.

Heck Stevo, you're gonna be close to me. Carolina Motorsports Park is probably your best bet for track days.

I'll keep checking their website for the 2014 schedule. She has booked the hotel in Beaufort already and it looks like there is a whole gang of us going down, grandparents, aunts and uncles etc.
