Old n00b from Michigan here

I'm 52 years young. I've been riding light cruisers a lot in my past. I wanted a fun commute. I'm way cheap. I drive the speed limit or 5 over and might get "Unusual" mpg compared to the average sport bike rider. At least I'm hoping I'd never even sat on a sport bike until after I bought this one. A 2011 250R Special Edition green slime thing I picked up this morning. I got it home. Then I sat on my first sport bike. It's not a bad seating position at all for me. I'm 5'10 and compared to a cruiser the back lower leg position is kinda different but usable. On the 250R the front position is fine. I don't really need to lean to reach the bars at all. Once I take freeway wind I'll worry about such an upright position though. I used to put big windshields on my cruisers that I could hide behind. I can't really do this on my Boogermobile can I? I'll deal with it.

Anyways. I'm a newbie here. Where is my tank cutoff? I don't see a fork lock either. I looked in my manual for them.

Welcome Joe. Big windshields don't belong on these little 250s. Get used to tucking in and laying your helmet onto that gas tank

There are a few larger windscreens for the 250, I have a double bubble which is moderate and comfy for me at 5'9" but there is a touring windscreen that is much larger that some go with.

LINK for DIY on Double Bubble windscreen.

LINK for Touring windscreen.

There are several other comfort mods... bar risers, seats, etc.

The ZG ST windscreen looks like it might be great once it gets cool here in Michigan. I found my fork lock once I quit looking where all my cruisers had them and looked in the manual. I picked up a Harbor Freight spool stand and spools. The stand was scary till I looked up the 2x4 under the stand first trick on google. It's still a bit scary but not bad. I got 2 quarts of Castrol plain motorcycle oil and a Fram filter. Not sure if I also need a washer but I'm close.
