Rear Shock Preload 2up
So I've been riding 2up lately a lot and I haven't really had a problem with anything but I thought I should ask anyways.
Where should I set the preload between 1-5? My bike is still stock on whatever preload it had when I bought it new. I haven't checked and don't know where it is currently set at. I by myself weigh 150 lbs and the girl I'm guessing weighs about 130 lbs. I understand that I should tighten it but has anyone found that nice magic setting or should I just go through them and test them out with her? Thanks! e;\ this is what I will be using as my guide http://www.ninjette.org/wiki/Setting..._Shock_Preload Last futzed with by oblivion007; December 6th, 2011 at 05:43 PM. Reason: mah guide |

Yup - that's a good guide. I'd imagine you'd end up at 3, 4, or even 5 to be a comfortable setting for you riding 2-up.

I'm 165lbs and my friend is pretty petite so i'd guess not that much over 100lbs. I'm using a preload of 3 even when she's not riding with me and so far it seems fine. I like it stiffer when i'm alone so even leaving it at 3 for myself is fine.
Try a few settings out and see if you can feel a difference. Depending on whether you ride 2up more often, set it to a nice middle ground.

I just leave mine on 2, it's slightly stiff when I'm solo and slightly soft with a passenger, but I don't have to adjust it all the time so whatever. I'm really skinny too, 140lbs is being generous

Setting 5 for me, nearly 400lbs on the bike when 2 up, fully geared and slightly spirited riding.
On 2 the rear brake res rubbed my hugger from scott.
