NEVER rode a bike up the ramp. NEVER will. I've always pushed the bikes into the back of the truck manually. I eventually used loading bikes and an excuse to lower my truck. Even with it slammed to the ground I still have my Ninja slightly drag the linkage across the tailgate when I load it up, which made me think of how many people have tried to ride bikes up the ramp then drug the bottom and fell over as seen in the vid.

yeah, riding a bike up a ramp onto a truck is never a good idea.

I've loaded and unloaded my dirtbikes and other bikes more times than i can count and have never had an issue. Hell sometimes i don't even use a ramp, just find a steep high embankment on side of road. Anything to bring the ground level up closer to tail gate height is a good idea.

Street bikes weight 400lbs, there is no reason to try it yourself. It's easy, ask someone for help, walk it up. 2 people is ok, but can still be tricky, 3 people is always better.

I've found the cheap easy solution for hauling my bike around...

U-Haul

Or the embankment trick. Anything to put the tailgate level with the front tire.

This is how i loaded my dirt bike, it was one person job and way easier then putting it in a bed... And went all over dirt roads and highways with potholes and bumps. They are really reliable.

95s are my favorite. They are so nice and sporty. My catalytic converter got stolen at my part time job in the mall but luckily my uncles a mechanic and got the part for me for free (expensive) and only had to pay 40$ for a muffler welder to attach the part hehee.

My car and I are the same age LOL. 18

a co-worker of mine loaded my bike into his truck... wood plank, go very slow, feet always down, me on the side of him making sure the bike never leaned too much.

it was the trip down that I was more worried about, but he pulled it off.

never again though.

saw my neighbor doing the same thing with a r6 and a 2x8... and stopped him.

i just ended up grabbing my three piece ramps, and telling him to park the truck at the base of the driveway. this lowers the angle of approach greatly, since the road is crowned. took off the tail gate and secured the ramp on to the bed with rope. then we both slowly pushed the bike into the bed, so the suspension doesn't get loaded and catch on the edge of the ramp.

sometimes a little forethought and a friend can make the job a whole lot easier and safer.

At least the one guy was smart enough to wear a helmet...
When I bought my bike the guy had a flat bed and I walked it up the bed and reverse the truck to the flatbed and rolled it on.... Upon getting it home I had one my larger friends come over and me and him pretty much walked it down like men.

Yeah it's a pain, but pushing it in with 2 or 3 people works. Having a spotter to unload helps a lot as well.

Painful to watch. For one thing, I can't believe how many were trying to load a bike into a truck bed that did not have enough room for the bike!

I have loaded lots of bikes into trucks, vans, ect and never had any drama.

agreed, it's not difficult to get a 2nd person to help you out and doing it alone is just asking for trouble. I'm probably going to lower my truck when I get it so I don't think that loading will be a huge issue so long as I use a proper ramp.

My boyfriends truck is lifted Dodge Dakota and we haven't had any problem loading bikes in it. Just got to be smart about it and have help. And good ramps help.
