Bike is ready, but...

... there is still frost on the hood of my car in the morning.

Took the CBR out last night for it's "spring shake down" run. Installed the new "shorty" levers. Ran a good bit of the old gas out and refilled with nice new 93 octane. Pressed up the tires. She will get a good washing and what have you with the weather in the 70's this weekend.

so I figure this is as good of time as any to say it.

keep your eyes extra open... your bike skills are rusty, the other drivers aren't used to seeing bikes on the street, especially the morning commute. New pot holes and cracks have opened up that weren't there last fall when you packed the bike away. Everything is against you, so act like the world is trying to kill you.

and keep the greasy side down and the bling-tastic side up.

Depending on your area's winter treatment and recent weather, there may still be traction-reducing salt on the roads too. A good April shower helps to clean up the pavement.

That's how they fix their back roads. Family grow up on a road that got that treatment lol.

I've see that. But they also spread it up by my sister for winter tration. One of the things she warned me about when i took my bike up there for a visit a couple years back.

No frost, so first ride was today.

feels good to be back on the bike with the knowledge that warmer weather is on the way.

ride home will be nice, 68' and sun

the tires have less then 300 miles on them and the cold weather favors the carbureted bike.

and so it begins

And so it begins.

I went for a spirited ride this evening and the chicken strips on my front tire are an 1/8".

Woo hoo.

What tires do you have? On my mt75s and stock suspension I was griding exhaust in both sides with 1/4" "chicken" strips.

In the front.. racetech emulators, ats stiffer springs - I'd like to say something around .80kg, more preload via plastic electrical conduit, preload adjusters at 3/7 clicks out, 5w honda fork oil, brembo ducati caliper on SSR bracket, ebc floating wave rotor, ss galfer line, and pentosin fluid.

Rear is all stock, stiffest spring oem preload, oem caliper and ebay rotor (don't buy these, they warp) and galfer ss line.

OEM brembo pad in front, EBC sintered in rear.

I've tried a lot of different tires and for 240 delivered to my house (hawaii shipping) the savas on ebay have been my favorite. Original size in front, and 140 wide in rear. 140 fits and clears the swinger with 1/4 on each side.

Yoshimura rearset brackets on the lower hole have raised my PSR pegs slightly.

Area-p high mount race exhaust is also higher than stock pipe, and I don't think it's the first thing to drag on that side. On the clutch side I keep waiting for my kickstand to drag but it never has.

Given, I don't hang off the bike and try to keep it vertical and the course was hairpin LEFT hairpin RIGHT hairpin LEFT for a few miles and by hairpin turn I mean tight enough to rev-match-downshift into first and keep the throttle open 1/2 way to keep the bike smooth while braking hard. Turns tight enough to get the rear wheel chirping and hopping on exit so I suppose it's not a typical 'track' type course with wide sweeping turns.
