Picked up a 2009 fz6r! It's a little neglected but for 5000 miles it can't be too bad. I need new tires and maybe a chain. The front end seems a little off but that may be the 470lb wet weight. The power is actually a little scary too. I'm going to have to get used to that. The front cowls fit fairly loose and move a little, that's different from the ninja too

Throw some fat man tires on there and feel the difference.

The only damage on the right side is light scratches and a bent shogun slider. It's a perfect salvage to pick up but I need the insurance money so I'm selling it back for 950 |

I just went with their dirtbike colors, not motogp. I don't think Ducati makes dirt bikes?

Had a '13 FZ6R (which is same since 09). Nice bikes, but very top hvy.
However the front shouldn't be off nor have loose fairings.... Mine was very solid in the front and although heavier to turn than ninja, it still handles well. |

1. You said in your OP, your front fairing was loose. Has the bike been down? The front could be tweaked somehow. Get it checked out if you think you need to. 2. Crappy tires... 3. Take some time to get used to the bike and welcome to the twitchiness that is yamaha. That same twitchy feeling is the secret sauce to their feel in the corners. And... the rake is fairly aggressive for that bikes intended purpose. I have seen these bikes move along really well on track too.

Previous owner claims to have never dropped it. I got new tires and that feels a little better. I think my bars are bent but there's no sign of scratches anywhere on this bike???

I like when I go look at used dirtbikes and they have all brand new plastic and graphics kit. It's a sure sign that the bike was beat to hell. I like when I can find used dirtbikes with the OEM plastic, you can read it like a book, not hiding anything.

Went on some of those nice curvy roads and I must say that I feel more planted in turns on this bike. Something about it feels really stable. Also going straight I don't feel every bump on the road like the 250. I can't say I'm missing the riding comfort of the 250.

More planted in lower speed turns..the bike belows a lot in higher speed turns.
The only real difference in turning should be the initial amount of force needed to turn compared to ninja, only due to the weight of bike. Anything off feeling could be from stuff like tire pressure, to scalloped tires or physical damage from a drop/accident. Those bikes are hard to visually see bends, due to bar natural bend back. Have to use a tape measure really. Make sure both sides even in length from the risers. A bit too far to 1 side or other can make turning 1 way more 'off' and perfectly normal other way. Make sure alignment is good too. |
