07 Tail Fairing and Fender Mod
Bought the 07 250 couple weeks ago and just had to cut something.....the hind quarters. Measured, marked, taped and cut the tail fender just beneath the frame rail. That left me with no lights in the rear. But with the newly purchased 08 tail fender, a few electrical connections and a fashioned up mounting bracket....all was right with the world.

Nice! But where's the tail light? Or are you going to add one?

I like how you trimmed the rear fairing. Not sure that license fender should be sticking waaay out there though.

I was noticing that too....when you look at the bike in person it doesn't look that far out but when I look at the pictures it DOES look waaay out there.....camera adds ten pounds kinda thing? lol jk I MAY need to adjust the location a bit.

Nice job man kudos. I trimmed the tail off my 2009 Ninja, leaving the taillights and turn signals though. Why oh why does Kawi have to put a fender on every bike?? All people do is eliminate it anyway!

Well that's a sleek mod. Clunky be gone!
Am crazi or is the rear tail piece aiming a bit high? Make an under tail exhaust ! It would look sick

Its aiming a bit high. I actually did it today after work and it was about to raon. I got the bracket made up and mounted it and said "eh itll have to do for now...i gotta get home" lol.....so upon fixing the too much outward reach of the fender i will also adjust the angle at the same time. All this input is helping a bunch!

I would get rid of that altogether and use a 90 degree angle to attach the license bracket to the underside of the pilon, then attach the blinkers to where the reflectors are in picture above. or bind that waaay back in some more. Remember, it's your bike so do what you like. |

Lol nice photo shop....only one problem with that....it completly destroys the angle that i cut on the tail fairing because it practically disguises it

That's not like any '08 fender I've ever seen. On the 2008-2012 rear fender there isn't a gap in the material above the reflector and the tag light is inside an oval enclosure.

I'd dump the fender alltogether and mount a tiny aftermarket LED taillight and the license plate under your trimmed rear bodywork. Turn signals can go almost anywhere, and there are some tiny aftermarket ones available. I like the LED panels that you can glue to your footpeg brackets or frame.

I think there was a member here that did something like that too. I think a lot of exhaust wrap and heat shielding would be put to good use to make it happen though. I wasn't really thinking about the two pipes being directly under the tail together. A little more separated might look better, idk.

That would fix one of the major appearance issues with the 88-07 models.. they are too narrow looking with their farings.. |

Thats pretty cool of them.. it looks great!
But I do like the OP's mods to the tail too.. might be something to try with a spare tail plastic. |
