New from CT, first ride on Ninja spins bearing
Hello All from Southern CT. I recently bought a 2004 Ninja with 20K miles for what I thought was a good deal. It started easily, ran good, but on my first real ride with it, which included a 10 minute highway blast, it burned up a bearing. It still "runs" but I have begun the search for a "new" motor. Hoping to swap the motor out before it gets too cold to ride. Cheers!

Yep it sucks! But at least I can tear everything down and know that it's all done right this time. This bike had a hard previous life. I am from Stamford, Southwest corner.

Ah man, if you were up by the MA line I'd love to lend a wrench. I rode through and made a stop in Stamford last week when I went to NYC.
These bikes do tend to have weak bottom ends if the oil level isn't maintained. So just keep your oil changed on time and check the level every time you fill up your tank. These bikes due tend to use oil, especially at high RPM use. I wring the neck off of my bike (I rarely ride below 8k RPM these days) and with every tank of gas find myself adding a good amount of oil. |

When you get it back on the road look me up and let's go for a ride. I live in Trumbull, work in Wilton.
