2012 mazda 2 5 speed manual, my friends say i have too much green; car, bike, shoes etc.
But i say the world needs more green. I dont see people telling others with blacked out cars and clothes saying thats too much black, but imo black is boring. Once i get a new job i plan to lower it a bit, either get new wheels or plasti dip these, tint the windows, upgrade the ecu, and possibly get an exhaust. Just have an intake in it now and i really like the sound. I would like an exhaust for the hp boost since this car is slow but i dont really want it louder. Bonus points to anyone who knows where the decal is from |

No idea on the vinyl, but DON'T BE THAT GUY WHO PAINTS HIS STOCK WHEELS! Ghetto as heck and totally garbage.
I guess this doesn't look so bad: but idk, I guess modded small hatches aren't really my thing. They all seem farty to me because we all know it's an itty bitty 4-banger, not anything menacing. I would do rims and leave it be, maybe a sway bar if the car sways badly. MAAAYYYBBEEE coilovers if you feel like getting wild and crazy in the handling department. But I'd likely get rims and let it be. Keep the OE wheels for winter tires. |

yea im not a huge fan of the stock wheels my self, if i were to dip them it would just be to test colors. Im all about green so i was just going to do green wheels, then i thought maybe black with a green strip.
I like small cars like this, its kind of like the ninja 250 of cars. good mpg, slow but quick enough and fun to drive. and im more fond of higher pitched engines like super sports compared to deep throaty tunes like v6s/8 and harleys |

I have a couple Syclones... Here's a pic of #0187 next to my buddy's FRS.
I swapped on the other wheels/tires and got the decals. Still need to get the replacement cladding pieces painted and installed... Here's a shot of #1456 in the SyTy's natural habitat - broken. Here's an older one (back when digital cameras sucked) right after we did a bit of detailing. When they're running well, these things are fun little stoplight warriors, even in stock form. They're torque monsters, and the auto and AWD make it real easy to put it to the ground.

a '93 ford ranger, yes my truck is as old as me but everything about it feels like a brand new truck, I'll post pictures tomorrow explaining this point. The thing is mint and lacks any flaws except for my rearview mirror curse lol. Ever car I have ever owned has had the rearview mirror fall off within 24 hours of me purchasing it |

I'm a car guy, I've spent many many hours wrenching on Euros. We're mainly a VW family, we've had:
1986 mk2 GTI 1.8 8V 1987 mk2 GTI 1.8 8V prepped for Street Prepared Autocross with the oil pan 1" off the ground 1989 mk2 Cabriolet 1.8 8v 2002 mk4 Jetta 1.8T Wagon 2003 mk4 Jetta 2.slow And now we have a 2007 2.0T Eos - it's the hard top convertible and it's awesome! Also love BMW's: 1987 E30 325i 1989 E30 325i 2002 E46 325i I also had a 1982 Volvo 245T. That thing was a ton of fun. I bought it for $600, put on an inter cooler from a 700 and a homemade boost controller. Turned the boost up to 25psi and rocketed around. Turned the boost up to 30 and shot a rod. The outlier was my 2000 Dodge Dakota, and as much as I hated that thing I miss having a pickup. My next car will be a mk1 VW caddy pickup, and it will be sitting on the ground.

Looking at a project truck. A real truck, not a ute like I've had several of. Body bad but engine and trans rebuilt. May rat it out or be my bodywork guinea pig.

New project. Rebuilt engine and trans; IHC V345/TorqueFlite 727, driven by a Dana 44. Absolutely bulletproof combo. I expect the drivetrain to outlive what's left of the body and chassis. And the apocalypse.

I recently upgraded my daily driver too. 2014 Silver Ice Metallic with the dark leather interior package.
I like that it hasn't actually used any gas in a week (about 200 miles). It was a demo car, so it had about 2,600 miles on it already (skewing the EV/gas stats). I had a Cobalt with the killer ignition, so I got employee pricing, plus the demo discount, plus they gave me basically full private party KBB value for the Cobalt (and they came and hauled away the dead Saturn too). In the end, it was only a few grand more than a base model Cruze (after figuring in the tax credit), so I couldn't say no. I've already swapped the interior lights over to LED. Not that I think it'll provide any noticeable power savings, but they're just whiter and more reliable. I'm looking at swapping HIDs into the stock halogen projectors too. I'm trying to decide if I want to spend the $200 to reprogram my radio/display to add in my own backup camera. Now I just need to get my 240V charger installed - that should let me recharge from my commute miles in about two hours, giving me a full charge to go out to dinner or something in the evening.

^^^do you ever worry about the gas in that? I mean if you find that it's feasible to recharge and always be full electric and you never end up using a tank, or maybe use a tank every 2 months, wouldn't you worry about the gas going bad? I'd probably be adding stabil every tank just to calm my mind.

People who know they'll very rarely use the gas tend to not fill it completely. That way there's less of it to go bad/burn through, plus it's less extra weight to carry around. Check out some of the leaders at http://www.voltstats.net/. That data is pulled from OnStar, as opposed to people manually entering data. I think you can game the per-charge/per-tank stats somewhat by not doing a complete fill-up, but there are still some pretty impressive numbers there. http://www.voltstats.net/Stats/Details/371 currently has 58,469.27 EV miles out of 58,608.67 total. That's only 139.4 gas-powered miles (which should be less than 4 gallons of gas burned) in nearly 59K. At the EPA-rated 36KWh/100mi, that's a total of 21,049KWh used. At $0.12/KWh, that works out to $2,525.88 in electric costs. If you figure $3.50/gal, that would get you less than 722 gallons of gas. Even at 40MPG, that would only get you 28,867 miles. He got over twice that on the electricity. Current EV technology simply doesn't work for everyone in every situation. If it does work for you, it can save you quite a bit of money though. I know for a fact that the hard limits of pure EVs won't work for me, so I got the Volt to be able to take long and/or unexpected trips on regular gas just like everyone else. But I really like that I can do all my normal weekly commuting on $5 of electricity rather than 3 or 4 gallons of gas. I do wish the Volt had a 6.6KW charger rather than the 3.3KW. OnStar stats show that most people use the standard 120V charger at home, so going with a more expensive, faster 240V charger wouldn't even be noticed by most. However, it would allow for quicker top-offs (an hour would give you half a charge), making it even easier to do all your daily driving without needing gas. Also, most states don't allow anyone but utilities to sell electricity to consumers, so most public charging stations simply charge you for the amount of time you're using it. They both pay $X to park there for an hour, but a Leaf will actually draw twice the power of a Volt in that hour. With the inflated rates some stations charge, it's actually cheaper for the Volt owner to buy gas instead.

I use a little bit of gas every day. My commute is 60 miles round trip and I haven't found anywhere to plug in at work yet (have been getting 45-50 miles per charge, my best is 52). I have been getting about 1000 miles per fillup (usually fill up with about 8-8.5 gallons).
The really great thing is you never HAVE to charge if you can't, and you can use it as a normal vehicle for longer trips. We took a 450 mile trip last weekend, and averaged 42 mpg on gas only. Then when we got where we were going, charged up and drove around all weekend without using any gas, then made the trip home. The car is actually fun to drive too. Low center of gravity keeps it cornering pretty flat, and the instant torque from the electric motor is great. The really limiting factor is the low rolling resistance tires. |

My commute is only about 20 miles round trip, plus a couple miles for lunch. I know I have plenty of spare electrons, so I'm not at all "eco" about driving it most days. My best (in a week and a half of owning it) is the 41 miles pictured above. It's getting about time for gas prices to jump up again around here, so I figured I'd fill up before that happened. I put in 4.77 gallons and had put 551 miles on it. One night, I had dinner at a restaurant with a charger in the parking lot, so I got an hour or two of (free) 240V charging. Other than that, I've only done 120V overnight charging at home - I really want to get that 240V charger installed to make it even easier to avoid gas outside my normal commute. I think the Volt is a great gateway EV, if you can get a good deal on one. If you can handle 40 miles between charges (whether that's <40mi per day, having a charger available at work, etc.), you can pretty much go without using gas at all (see the guy I linked above). However, you still have a normal ICE car's range on a tank of gas if needed (longer trips, no charger available, etc.). Until you can recharge an EV for a tankful worth of miles as quick as stopping at a gas station (via some combination of quicker charging and larger capacity), pure EVs aren't very suitable for many people's needs. If you absolutely never use gas, you should probably just get a pure EV, and if you're always on gas, you should probably just get a more efficient ICE car. But with the Volt, at least you have the option and the ability to be "mostly EV" without having to buy a second car for when pure EV doesn't work. It really is pretty fun to drive. I was looking at acceleration numbers for another discussion, and it's comparable to the 190HP 4-cylinder Accord EX. It's not meant to be a sportscar, but it's pretty peppy for being so heavy. The Cobalt came with LRR tires too, and they sucked horribly. I doubt I'll go buy brand new tires just to upgrade, but I'm sure I'll get something less eco-oriented when I have to replace them.
