New rider/owner in SoCal

Hello! I'm Michael, 27 years old. I'm brand new to these odd things with 2 wheels AND an engine. I Just bought a NEW 2014 Ninja 300. 0 miles on it. My total riding experience is 55 miles, which is what the bike's odometer now reads! I'm loving it so far. Ive got as much gear as I could afford. Snell rated helmet, leather gloves with knuckle pads, and a jacket with elbow, shoulder and spine protectors. Its also 3 layers which is very handy being this close to winter in the mountains where I live. I have my permit and as soon as I can afford it I will be taking the MSF course and getting the license waiver.

welcome aboard and nice choice on the bike!
Its great to see someone new to riding already looking into getting protective gear and doing the MSF course. Don't skimp on a good pair of boots when you can afford them. I know mine have saved me a great deal of pain and misery.

Thanks guys (and girls?) Im loving the ride! 260 miles as of today! Still on break-in Had an OH S$!t!!! Moment when someone threw the brakes on hard in front of me, but I had luckily been practicing braking for nearly an hour that morning so I had a real good idea how hard I could stop without issues, and as a side bonus had worn off the slick mold release crap that all new tires have. I wasent tailgating, but man, I didnt know a full size SUV could scrub speed THAT fast I'm excited for the future of this bike, and of the Ninja 300 in general. We will be using this bike as a test bed for products in the future where I work. I wont name names as I'm not sure of advertising policies on here but it does have to do with my screen name. I am also looking for people more local to me for rides and gatherings but according to the map, there is only one person in Bakersfield and I would have to go to LA for the next closest. Well, it would give me a chance to take ACH (highway 2) once Im comfortable enough. I know the road well thanks to my car club down in City of Industry.
