stupid fricken too big airbox help
Does anyone know how to put the airbox back into an '04 250? Saw a video where it was pulled out so know it most likely needs to be apart first but no matter what I try the thing won't go in. I bought it and it was missing. Ordered one and think now it was a waste of money. I tried with the motor unbolted and leaning all the way forward, taking off coolant reservoir and wire harness on right side. This is why I don't buy Kawasaki. Unfortunately I got this to teach my daughter throttle control before getting on track with a real sport bike. I just thought I was good a tetris

Sorry Patrick,
There just is no "quick trick" to it. If you want it done right, then here is the link. To get the box completely out, your gunna have to remove the rear wheel and drop that fender completely off. And ya... it's a complete pain in the arse! https://www.ninjette.org/forums/show...02&postcount=1

boy, if you think getting the airbox on a ninja 250 is tough don't ever buy a VFR Interceptor (honda) or just about any inline-four cylinder sportbike. Lots of 'modern' bikes you have to just about remove the engine, subframe or other major work to get the airbox in and out. |

I put the moto on the center stand, removed the top shock bolt to drop the swing arm enough to be able to remove the fender bolts and also squeeze the air box out. If you can put a piece of wood under the center stand to raise the rear a bit more it would help the swinger drop more.

I can get it in and out in 20 minutes. It just takes some finesse. It's like Tetris, yo!!
The halves have to be cocked at a little angle and slid past each other. If you can cut off the battery box, it really helps with getting you space to slide it fore/aft. |

Did the battery box mod today. Also only had a hacksaw. Took about 20 minutes. Removing the airbox was a cinch compared to me separating the battery box and airbox.

Yea, if you don't do the modification, you won't be one of the cool kids
Or be forever doomed like these kids, are, and ALWAYS WILL BE!!! Regardless of the catchy tune.

nope, but the distance from the top of the battery box to the seat is smaller than the height of the battery, soooooooo regardless of what you do do it, it's not coming out while the seat on.
Let's put it this way. I crashed at ~50mph and slid across a 50' wide track, then the bike hit the dirt hard and came to a rapid stop. Battery wasn't a problem. |

Thank you all especially csmith12 for link. 10 bolts and the rear tire removed damn thing slid in perfectly. The issue isn't getting it out its getting it in and I don't want to cut it apart. The guy that had I bought it from did that but single pod filters wouldn't stay on from motor vibration. I don't need it suped up I just need it running right to teach my daughter throttle control. Head gasket was blown on it so I got all that replaced and fixed. You guys have been great helping me and love your senses of humor it gets me back to an eased state of mind being able to laugh about it. I was trying to get the 2 pieces to wedge in and damn hand slipped hit frame and broke a fricken nail. Seriously it tore half my thumbnail off I don't recommend it. Hence the original post that actually kinda hurt. Bad thing now is it dies without the choke on. He changed the jets to stage 2 and I know with the airbox the air fuel mixture is now jacked but that's easy fine tuning with the carbs. Really appreciate all your help
