Oh my dear Lord
An armored hoodie? Really?
Who's the target market? People who want to LOOK like squids without BEING squids? http://www.motorcyclegear.com/street...red_hoody.html

Umm... first off it looks to loose to keep the armor where it needs to be.
I guess there's a market for everything.... I would guess its geared more to a cruiser rider?

I saw those when I went shopping recently. I guess it falls into the same category of those that ride with the little German WWII style helmets.

I'd rather rock something like an Icon stryker vest under a normal hoodie in the fall, this just doesn't seem like it will protect much if at all and it definitely won't protect key areas like the chest and spine

Found something similar on another site, the reviews are saying "removed the armor and wore under leather jacket"
then why buy an armored hoodie...?

there's plenty of times when i'll ride a wopping mile down the street to the bank or quick stop or whatever and will squid it up. if i happened to have this sweater i'd probably throw it on. but i probably wouldn't bother paying for it.

This feels like trackside apparel to me. It's common for me to where a hoodie to tech on the cool Apr. and Sept. mornings. The track paddock is about the only place NO gear is accepted. lol

If speed and strength wasnt so douchey I'd rock an armored hoodie. I find it interesting that aside from the lack of protection posters are concerned about looking like a squid. A bit off topic as I find image so important... Which in an ironic twist don't most consider squids to be squids because they are so image focused? |

Hey now, I do this. But since I ride to the track, I'm not about to strip down, ride over to reg/tech, then come back and put all that crap back on. Sue me I'm the only one in line in my leathers.

My first trackday, I went to the riders meeting in leathers. Yes, I was the only one. We're all silly noobs at some point.

Around here, with MCRA in Indy and St. Louis, to see 30+ riders in leathers at the riders meeting is common, not so much with other orgs though.

Road rash sucks. I approach it this way: Let's say you're in a van going 25-30 mph. Stand in the side door and slide it open. Watch the pavement going by. Would you be willing to jump out of the vehicle while traveling that speed, wearing what you wear? Because if you actually do go down at that speed the results will be similar. Body hitting the ground from an altitude of a couple of feet, traveling 25-30 mph. No difference. If Dickies do it for you, more power to ya. Enjoy picking the gravel out of your butt. That's what I had to do. Gear that's hanging in your closet because you couldn't be bothered to put it on is not useful.

I have to say, I'm typically a fan of SS gear. Their suits and higher-end jackets are good quality and have improved noticeably with each generation. I wear the first generation Twist of Fate textile jacket, and a Triple Crown 1-piece leather race suit. I'm impressed with the quality, durability, and comfort of both,.
This hoody does disappoint me though. Word. I've done that. Only difference is a nurse picked the gravel out of mah butt instead of doing it myself. |

If I were to go down on the freeway, I don't even want to think about the damage to my body if I was wearing dickies. On the other hand, if I had hit a bit differently and slid on my ass instead of tumbling enough to avoid damage, it would have hurt, sure, but I could have picked the gravel out of my ass and gone to work. |

That's because they actually check gear. I usually wear my helmet boots and gloves and fold my leathers on the tank. I did that with another org and they asked why I was covering my bike.

Is it purely a hoodie with armor slots or an armored shirt that looks like a hoodie?

The female version (Cat Outta Hell) is very skin tight and the armor plates fit where you need them to. However, imho it isn't meant to be worn anything over say 20MPH so to me, it'd be useful for perhaps a bicycle rider. The material is very thin and I don't recall seeing it kevlar lined, just that it had armor plates in the shoulders and elbow areas. I'd get one for mountain hiking but not for riding around on my ninja. I did find it amusing that the female versions are almost always out of stock at the distributor though so someone, somewhere is buying them....

i don't see a difference between these and kevlar pants. Kevlar pants are a little better, but not by much.
too loose to keep pads in place, and the cotton shell will shred to pieces, just like the non-kevlar reinforced parts of the jeans. IMO, it's poor of them to release this. It gives a false sense of security to people who don't know any better. |

From the topic I was expecting it to be this (which I have because I'm immature and it's silly and awesome):
I think that's because with MCRA you need to be geared up for tech, so most people just leave their gear on. |
