Last 3 fingers on clutch?

Does anyone else use the last 3 fingers (Pink-Ring-Middle) on the clutch? I've found this to be the most comfortable, since the clutch lever doesn't have to be pulled in all the way to engage.

Yep, that's exactly what I do. I know a lot of people use the index-middle fingers for the clutch, but our way is just more comfy for me

I generally use only my index finger on the clutch. When I up or downshift I just give it a quick tug. The rest of my hand rests on the handlebar.

I do fist it when I'm stopped at a red light or plan to be stopped for a while, and not bothered to kick it in neutral. Same goes for my brake - index finger unless I'm stopped. This is with the OEM levers.

(me sitting at my desk trying to work fingers in this manor)

Those three fingers don't operate well together for me, I can feel the ligaments/tendons whatever getting tight as I try to move them. Seems like a solid idea though.

I use my whole hand for the clutch, never really had a reason not to on the ninja250. It is easy to stay loose on the bike and there is no need to hang on for dear life from neck breaking acceleration. On my dirtbike I use index finger or index plus middle though but it is completely different kind of riding.

Glad I'm not the only one sitting here trying that.

I tend to use my index-middle-ring as my pinkie is just useless. Though I have caught myself using only the middle finger to pull it in. Since I switched to shorty levers, using two on the brake and three on the clutch just feels more comfortable.

but i have tiny hands, so there may be that too.

I'm thinking of ordering some shorty levers. How have you found the switch from OEM to shorty? Worth it?

I'm pretty sure I'll be fine with the shorty brake lever as I only use my index and middle finger on the brake. Not so sure how I'm going to fare with the shorty clutch as currently I use all four fingers on the clutch.

Sometimes.... my grip is like that. Depends on the bumpiness of the track, other times it's the standard 2 fingers on the lever.

The pinky and ring finger are actually the strongest when it comes to grip. try it right now. Grip something and see how much tighter you can get with your pinky and ring fingers. this is why I've never understood why some people only use their index finger for the clutch.

Even with adjusters I need all mine, most of the time. But, I have a size 6 hand.

Definitely worth it for me since my shorties are also adjustable and I was able to bring the lever in closer.

Here's how I usually start out the ride, though I switch between two and three fingers:

Some bikes have a hydraulic clutch, soooo easy to pull. It can become more about finesse than power, much like the front brake lever.

I have XL hands, so it's no problem with the clutch, even with the upgraded HD clutch springs.
