New girl rider progress report!

I haven't posted since getting my bike and joining the forum. I've had my bike about 3 weeks now. For the first week, I did lots of parking lot practice. During the second week, I took my MSF and started practicing up and down my road. I even did a 20 mile ride with my husband and a friend. Making it to an actual destination was exciting (gas station and the park, ha!) Oh, and I hit a little rain shower too.
I did drop my bike coming out of a church parking lot I was stopped on the hill and about to get back on the street. I put my foot down, and down, and down, and there was no pavement. I gracefully laid my bike down and walked away. It hurt my feelings more than the bike! I was sure I didn't want lowering links on my Ninja but after that, I decided to order them.
I haven't been able to ride for about a week because we had to leave town for a family emergency. However, this weekend's weather is looking perfect and I'm anxious to get in some more seat time. Maybe I'll be able to ride into town soon! We'll see! I'm so trying not to rush myself but I'm just so excited!

Here's me on a video that a friend took on our ride to the park. My husband is behind me on his Concours. I really need to make sure that my headlight is adjusted before I get out at night! (Video is pretty long and mostly uneventful. You may wanna fastfwd through some)

WTF Jessica! That video was boring!!!!

Just kidding... it's perfect! Just as a should be, "uneventful". You had fun and that is what counts.

Don't lower the bike. You will just have to go through the same procedure later when the reduced ground clearance starts to make you nervous.

And don't worry about tipping it. I think it has happened to all of us much more than once.

Not sure how I missed another Newnanite for this long. Howdy. :P

So far, we have:
me
you
@case86 (no longer has a 250)
@gilmorec61 (no longer has a 250)
@Techno250 (not sure if he ever got a 250).

Didn't recognize the roads in that video at all.

I just want all the Newnanites to be aware of each other. I've known case86 since he was a little kid. I bumped into Techno250 outside a restaurant in 2008. gilmorec61 and I have done a bit of work together (valves, chain, exhaust, etc). I keep trying to meet this CZroe guy but he's always evading me.

J/K OP is the only one I'm aware of who I haven't met.

Why is everyone in Newnan? And when are you guys getting together next? I want someone to hear this clunking my bike is making to see if anyone can figure it out.

Chris got rear-ended on his way to school and upgraded to a ZX6R FAR sooner than I am comfortable with (he's a teenager) so we haven't heard from him in a while. Casey got married and sold his bike though he still wants one of mine as soon as the Mrs will allow it. I still haven't met the OP and I don't think the other guy ever got his 250.

No get-togethers planned, I'm afraid. I wish I had a workshop or garage to host a tech day!
