Downshifting woes
I am a new rider, and i suck at downshifting. yesterday while out riding i decided to practice. After being less than gentle with my clutch and transmission I came home. Later I came out and noticed an oil leak under my bike. Then today I started the bike and got it warmed up. I turned it off and no more leak. I went on another ride, practiced some more downshifting, and later i noticed the leak again. i have no idea what it is from. could it be a problem with my clutch?

Welcome Philip!
Did you just recently oil your chain? I ask because I have beat the crap outta my clutch without issues. But I did oil my chain and noticed some dripping from excess lube.

no, the chain hasn't been lubed recently. I went out and took some pics. as far as i can tell the leak is between and slightly above the kickstand and exhaust.

i thought chain fling would leave a larger puddle (or more spread out) it just seems like it's coming form one area.

Get some engine degreaser from Walmart- $2, spray it good in there and wash it off. The leak looks pretty substantial. Hard to tell but may be from the front sprocket area maybe the output seal? Check your engine oil level first before riding it more.

Doesn't look like chain fling to me. Looks like a seal. Good advise here. Clean it completely with some engine degreaser and take it for a ride and check to see where its leaking. If its the seal behind the front sprocket its not that bad of a repair.

The level of oil should be around half and top of the glass visor by the right side, when the bike is perfectly vertical and supported on both tires. Check if it is coming from the crankcase's breather by the carbs. Poor downshifting, oil leaks and clutch are all non-related.
