Full disclosure: I used to live in an old house, built in the 1920s. One day the black iron drain pipe under the kitchen sink finally gave up the ghost. I used this exact technique, with a honkin' big monkey wrench, to remove it.

Hazardous as hell. There was a LOT of force involved.

Not exactly what the OP was asking but here's what I'm going to carry on the bike every time I go out. My "survive an apocalypse on anything (metric) with wheels" kit. I don't have the factory tool kit so keep that in mind.

*2x short crescent wrenches
*vise-grips
*Allen wrench set
*cable ties
*electrical tape
*headlamp
*oil
*water (for the bike or the poor sucker pushing the POS lol)
*a couple bungee cords
*small cargo net
