Trackday Mayhem - 6/15
No riders seriously injured, but quite the debris field. Initial cause was an exhaust system falling off a bike. Rider was blackflagged, but didn't get off before it fell off completely. Yellow flag for debris over blind corner. Some riders don't see / don't abide by the flag, and bike carnage ensues...

It's probably a good tip not to do what the guy in blue does in Video 2 either: (not see flags or the hand up from the guy on the Duc, realize so late that you endo the bike with front brake, sending you and the bike flipping through the air right at the bike you tried to avoid).
Did you see how that bike's swingarm lands right on the Duc guy's left hand on the clipon?

Never stop on track. Ever. The longer it takes to get moving motorcycles off the course, the longer it takes to roll the ambulance.
Only exception is if the flaggers are explicitly waving the flags that mean stop on track. Here in NorCal, that's usually a red flag. Anything else, you keep going.

Yes. Slow up enough to be safe; once you're through the area in question, get back to pits ASAP (safe, but fast speed). Ambulances can't roll until the track is cleared, so staying on the track might actually endanger someone who needs medical attention. You can be the most help by staying aware, getting through the area in question safely, and then getting to the pits.

It's not universal. All of the norcal orgs I've ridden with use red flag to mean stop (when safe) on track.

Key takeway - never stop on track unless you've seen the flag designated to do so, if there is one. Corollary - if you pay attention to nothing else during the rider meeting, make sure you listen to what the flags mean. There isn't anything more important (or more risky for all to screw up).
