Jump started backwards

I've been able to laugh off every silly little mistake I've made with this bike, and every mechanical issue I've had with it, but now I'm pissed off. I jump started it backwards, such a stupid mistake. Now when I turn the key to the on position, nothing happens. No lights turn on, nothing. So, what should I do? I don't even know where to start. I'm even playing with the idea of selling my bike and just quit riding. This has been one problem after another, and if I'm going to make a mistake as stupid as that, I don't know if I even belong on a bike. But, it all depends on what I have to do to fix it. If I just need to swap out some fuses or something, I can do that. What does ninjette think? Thanks.

Jumpstarted it backward... hmmmm you mean hooked up the cables + to - and - to +? Red to black and black to red? Most likely your main fuse is blown. Hopefully it's that simple.

Crossing my fingers for you.

Did you check the main 30 amp fuse on the starter solenoid? Also check the other fuses as well

interesting, I didn't even know you could do that
it's all up to you man, mistakes like this are a part of life so there's no real reason to not do things you want just because you make silly mistakes from time to time.

edit: I'm a dumbass, I thought you were roll starting it backwards
probably a fuse, worst case the battery is fried

Where is the main fuse? I looked in the fuse box on the right-hand side and saw a 30A fuse in there, but it looked fine and I ohmed it out and it's still got connection, but then I saw that it's apparently a spare fuse and doesn't connect to anything.

Edit: found it

It's that everyone I know is against it, and I make a LOT of mistakes associated with this motorcycle. I may want to stop before I make a life-ending mistake. I'm still not sure. Human error sucks. I want to be a robot, but with feelings.

making mistakes is part of the normal learning process, I know I've made my fair share of them

if you don't make mistakes you aren't learning.

Yeah, that thing's toast. Thanks, Kawasaki, for leaving me a spare

It's fixed. I'm not sure which makes me dumber, the fact that I jump started it backwards or the fact that I was so heavily discouraged by such a simple fix.

Thanks so much, guys. Not only for telling me to fix my fuses, but for the kind words and encouragement. I love this forum

No worries, we've all made some simple mistakes, it never bothers me, I just laugh, and fix it.

Glad you got it fixed, no be sure to replace your spare fuse, I always carry a few in the tool kit as well, just in case I or someone else I'm riding with needs one.

There's only one 30 amp fuse on the whole bike, starter solenoid/main fuse. All other fuses are and should be 10 amps.

You suck, get over it.
Your goal is to become less sucky until you become good.

You didn't notice the sparks? :P I'm with everybody else... Made a ton of stupid mistakes, it is life. It certainly is easy to get discouraged, but keep learning and things get easier...
