New here from Florida

Hey folks,
I recently purchased a 2006 Ninja 250. Its by far the smallest bike I've ever owned. Originally I got it for my work commute and didn't expect to have much desire to ride it in my spare time as I normally prefer bigger CC bikes. WRONG! This bike is more fun to ride than any bike i have ever owned! I ride it 7 days a week rain or shine. It just handles waaaay to good to not exploit its underestimated abilities. So...here I am at ninjette cuz I'm sold on these things.
I wouldn't mind a friend or 2 in my area that have 250's to ride with. Currently my riding buds are Harley guys and frankly....they're boring to ride with since their bikes can't perform like this little mean machine I have now. I'm not a nut or anything but I do enjoy my tiny chicken strips staying tiny (cuz I like cornering, not cuz I care what you think). Also, I don't drink and they like to bar hop more than ride.
Sorry for the long intro but my new used bike has my blood pumpin all the time. Safe ridin everyone. I'm lookin forward to being here!

Cool

Welcome to Ninjette.org, Keith !!!

Central/South-East Florida here.

I was close to Tampa two days ago; traffic was crazy.

warm welcome! :-)

Yeah, Tampa traffic around town will keep ya on your toes. I'm always escaping to the back roads to ENJOY riding whenever I can. My daily work commute is a 22 min love affair with a winding road and a few nice straights and noooo traffic (I work on a ranch).
Corner whisperer.....I could probably learn a few things from ya. I've always been better at going in deep than finessing the corners. I'm a bit rough around the edges so to speak with my riding style. And that's with over 20 years of riding :-/

I have been known to help out a rider to two.

Cornering tips

I'm definitely not opposed to any good cornering tips since the outcome can only be safer, faster cornering. Commitment used to be my problem years ago. Got past that and found myself over confident and coming in way too hot (leading to a few close calls low siding). Fast forward some more years and now I'm efficient at cornering but I can feel there's a glitch in my style that's preventing me from being the best I can be. Never had a track day in my life and I feel like that experience with repetative opportunity to practice might help? Fyi...I've owned sport bikes AND cruisers. I'm no longer interested in cruisers and probably won't own one again as sport bikes are where the fun is for me.

I get the feeling you and I share a similar riding career. I am 40yrs old now, was riding at 16 mostly cruisers with the occasional dirt bike thrown in as I could afford to fix it (we was poor folk). I am married with 4 kids, I WILL own a cruiser again, it's just a question of when.

If you wanna fix your glitch, do a novice track day. It's the fastest, safest and best way to get cornering down. The riding skillz section here is chuck full of great nuggets by many talented riders. And if ya can't find your answer, post up. "Normally", you can get your answer without a lot of wish/wash and ego.

Finally, when you are ready to commit to a track day, I will be in Jennings FL in Feb. with about 25 friends and possibly a few ninjetters as well. Feel free to come along for the lolz and some fun riding. After 20yrs.... you're ready overdue.

You nailed it...our ridi g backgrounds are very similar. I was a budget biker for a long time too when I was younger (and sometimes now lol). Dirt bikes, easy to work on cruisers and then graduated to sport bikes. Afterthought....yeah I can see a purpose for a cruiser again someday. Esp 2 up with the wife. She prefers cruiser comfort. Thanks for the advice and invite. Sound like just what I need to work out some kinks
