Just bought a 2012 250! Check it out!
Hey guys, I'm happy to say that I just purchased a 2012 Ninja 250. The bike is candy apple lime green. It has 9,200 miles. It was listed for $3,100. I bought it for $2,800.
previous owner only had her for a month, I think his dad was making him sell it. Because he seemed pretty sad to see it go, and his dad was happy to see it go. So I think they were having family issues. He told me the previous owner was the original owner and a female so that's good news. He only put about 150 miles on it. Bike is in nearly mint condition aside from a scrape on the exhaust and a small tear on the rear seat [see photo] ^ Also, I already bought her an oil change, the kid said he changed the oil but I don't trust it, since he seemed like he didn't know much about anything and probably used the wrong oil, etc. So I went out and paid (way too much, but I don't care) about $25 on an oil change. This is the only full synthetic 10w40 they had at autozone so I just went for it. Mobil 1 motorcycle fully synthetic oil. I hope to ride this bike for the next 2 summers. Hopefully put another 5k miles, then probably sell her (we'll see). I hope she will last that long. She seems to ride perfect. Only complaint I have is that the gauges seem rather dim to me, the bottom half are not lit very well. Kinda bothers me. I do have a rather bigger issue though, when I went to his house the bike was COLD (I touched the motor, it was cold) I turned the key, thing fired right up. I let it idle, and it seemed great. Me and my dad thoroughly looked it over, we both test rode it and it was perfect. I couldn't find any serious problems. Then when we got home the bike didn't want to start. I put the choke on half way, but it didn't change anything, but once the choke was fully engaged it started. I took it on the road after that and she ran pretty well, shifted perfectly, no sputtering, etc. So my thinking is that the kid may have used the wrong oil. If the issue continues, I will replace the sparks, I heard that they are supposed to be cleaned every 3k, and I doubt they were ever serviced since not a single screw seems turned on the bike. overall I'm happy, I know I could easily get 3 grand for the bike if I ever wanted to sell it.

While I like other colors IMO Kaw's should be mostly green like this one.

Looks really nice! Now use that money you saved on a good set of tires.
I'm so jealous of the color too. If the 300 would have been offered in that color, then I wouldn't be riding a black bike.

Also, just a little update, I changed the oil. Looks like there was about 2.5 quarts in there (there should only be 2 from what I understand) so it was over full. Not to mention it looked a little dirty so I think he lied about changing it... regardless the new synthetic oil is in there and the bike fires right up.

Your new ninjette looks great. Hope you enjoy it.
I was going to say that. Of all the things I've done to my ninjette, getting a decent set of tyres on it has made the biggest positive different to the feel of the bike and my confidence riding it. I wouldn't go back to the stock IRCs if somebody paid me. |

I agree with you guys on the tires, they're stock and 9k miles so they need replacing anyway, Definitely going to be my first upgrade... only thing is I have to choose get tires now and do the MSF course later, or vice versa.
Also the seat is garbage.. but other than that, I'm in love.

MSF First!! I think that gear and training are two very important things you should have before you start your first months of solo riding (I'm assuming you're new to riding).
Read this crash post by @Kscreations08 and learn from his humbly admitted mistake: https://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=174298 Also, see this poll: https://www.ninjette.org/forums/showthread.php?t=25913 Over 55% of riders on this forum reported crashing/dropping their bike within the first 6 months. Of them, most of them crashed/dropped within the first 2 months. I don't want to scare you. Just inform you so you can enjoy your beautiful new bike without damaging it or damaging you. |

I actually did read that story, he admits it is his fault, but to be honest, I never would have made that mistake, I deal with massholes on the time (i'm from mass) and if someone is riding you on a two lane highway, the best thing to do is to always just slow down, they will get annoyed and pass you. by the way, I am by no means saying I don't make mistakes, I'm sure I have and WILL. But this particular instance is something I wouldn't have an issue with. I don't at all think you're trying to put me down. I appreciate all the advice! Btw, do you (or anyone else) know of a good solution for the seat? (any cover or after market seat, etc.)

I don't know of any covers for the seat. My seat feels ok. Maybe I just have a squishy ass. You should grow a squishy ass. Eat your vegetables; that'll do it.

There are lots of aftermarket seat covers available, as well as pads like Airhawk. Most ninjetters though, seem to prefer to just upgrade to a Corbin custom seat or something of a similar design.

Congratulations on the new ride. There are a couple seat options but they're not dirt cheap. If you want comfortable check corbin or spencer's.

Good buy I wanted to sell daugthers 2012 for that with less than a 500 miles and no one was interested . So I now ride it and its up to 900 miles. It's a great little bike. No not my 113cubic inch, Yamaha Raider V-twin. But still will cruise from A to B at 70MPH and loves the curves. Took it for a 100 mile round trip last week. In fact I been thinking about a after market exhaust, jet kit , suspension work, better tires , and having a really fun twisty road play bike .
Missed out on a 500 ninja 2009 ,last year made with 614 miles on it $2999. Should have bought when I found it . No I wanted to think it over .Was gone next day when I went back. |
