Close Call..
Thankfully it was just that and not more. I was out for a joy ride during this little break in rain eastern PA had today, hitting some back roads. Not too hard, but a wee bit over the posted "25" . I was going for right turn on a "T" intersection to get back towards the highway. This particular turn always gets me, even when i've been back there in my car, it kinda sneaks up on you. Everything went really fast so I'm not sure exactly what I did wrong, but here are a few things I know for starters.
I know I started braking too late, and I think I grabbed too much throttle too soon. But what really caused the trouble was the gravel on the corner. I should've seen that there would be gravel there, the road kinda' dips down on that corner of the intersection, and the road goes uphill. In that split second of thought before the corner I had a bad feeling about it, I guess I should've payed attention to that hunch. The rear wheel slid out a bit but grabbed some firm pavement as my right foot instinctively shot out and bounced on the ground a few times. The bike went back upright and I pulled off the road and sat there a few seconds to regain my wits. It probably wasn't nearly as close a call as it felt like, but it shook me up. Honestly, it was probably a timely scare. I've been getting somewhat comfortable on the bike and a little healthy fear was probably in order, heh. So that's my story. I will say, for a second there I thought I was going to be able to get an R6.... I'm gonna try to be hanging about on this fine forum more than I have been these past few weeks, haha, summer's been busier than I thought it'd be! |

Glad you're ok.
Think of everything as a gradual motion, and allow for extra time to complete your actions. Treat warning signs on the road as clues, and use your sight as evidence. Then your skills will come into play, instead of the fear...

Haven't you heard you're supposed to go straight to a liter bike now after crashing the 250?
