beginner noob + rain = disaster

it was my first week riding in august and it started raining when i was riding home like heavy rain for about the whole ride home , but on the way home i came to a redlight on a very very deep hill shaped like this \ and it was rainy heavy and when the green light came on idk what happened but i guess me and the bike went forward and that is when i went down with the bike and the bike turned off...... that is when it has fallen i was so scared for my life but then i turned it back on and road a little faster.........i think that was my problem not riding fast enough so weird that might sound to some ppl but it has been my self taught lesson kind of thing ever since then i always go a faster in the rain...... anyone had the same experience ??

can't go any faster than i already do.

But anyway just so i understand.

You were at a red light stopped correct?
Then you went to move forward from the stop and went down at low speed?
you were going straight through intersection? making a turn?

On serious note, no i do not go faster in the rain, traction is reduced so stopping distance is increased and there is more of a chance of locking up a wheel while braking if not cautious and same goes for traction through turns.

In rain nothing sudden, slow and steady

Ya i went forward a bit but then i fell with the bike i think either my balance was off or i was going too slow to cause my bike to not not maintain that balance

was there any painted crosswalks? Turning arrows? anything painted on the roads? Paint that is wet from rain can be very very slick for a motorcycle, if you would have hit something like this and turned to quickly or to much throttle it could have led to accident

We all have had a similar experience among our first riding experiences.

If I understand correctly this happened two month ago, as soon as you bought the bike with stock tires; did you put some wax on those?

Going faster is not a rainy day solution:/ reduced traction, an all that.

You need to practice low speed maneuvers as much as possible, that is all. The incline will help you get up to speed faster.

I think you just stalled the engine. You had a lot of stuff going on to think about and forgot to balance the clutch to the throttle. When the engine died, the rear wheel locked and your body and bike went forward. That threw you off balance, and then you took a close look at the pavement.

It also sounds to me like you stalled the engine . If that isn't what happened, you didn't do a good job of telling us what happened lol

I agree with the previous comments about maneuvering at slow speeds. Anyone can ride a motorcycle at speed; watch them in a parking lot and you'll be able to tell who the real n00bs are

Check out THIS thread about maneuvering slowly.

Dude, try some punctuation, not just... every few lines. It's like reading a 10 year old's writing & makes it harder to work out what you did.

You either stalled the engine & went down, or you botched the take-off, went down & the bike down sensor cut the engine. or you botched the take-off, went down & the bike down sensor cut the engine

(Never mind, you're on a pre gen, I don't think they have the sensor, only non US 250s & the 300s have them)

If you stall the engine pull the clutch, it'll free-wheel & you can brake/roll to a stop then fire up & go.

Pushing harder than normal in the rain is asking for trouble, it's fine to ride in the rain, it's even OK to push hard in the rain, just keep it a bit more upright, be smooth with the controls & you'll be OK.(Learn to ride properly in the dry, and the wet before trying to push hard in the wet)
I did about 70 miles, in the mountains, in hammering down rain this morning, phone says I maxed out at 68 mph somewhere along THIS ROAD on the way home.

How fast were you going?
Had you released the clutch all the way/ were you feeding it out?
Did the back end move out of line?
Did the front?
Did you go over a manhole cover, painted surface, roadkill ect...?

Something missing here and then I jerked a bit forward when the green light came on, then after moving like 5 feet my bike took a diagonal turn and yea......
Sounds like you dumped the clutch, the bike lurched & stalled & you went arseways.

Hey Pat, be careful out there in the rain. Be controlled (smooth) as possible with your inputs and riding in the wet is not really a big deal. Since you have now experienced a lack of traction feeling, your speed should be directly relative to how much traction you have at any given time. The skill to it is be able to feel it before you crash.
