IMHO,
Hate to tell you, but I doubt it was the spark plug fault. Looks like that cylinder was running extremely lean due to a fuel delivery issue. Seen that happen too many times back in my drag racing days, when the motor was running lean. Personally I would invest in a used or new pair, if it's in your budget, and maybe just get a whole used low mileage engine. How much experience do you have on working on motorcycle engines?

I can buy a new piston for 48 bucks.
13001 13001-1325 PISTON-ENGINE,STD $47.47 $47.47 2 Cylinder looks good. I am green on working with cams and chains. Have experience holing 2 stroke pistons. I will need some help here reassembling. Bike ran great. Rings seem to be obsolete. 13008-1157 RING-SET-PISTON,STD If I reuse my rings should I still hone and crosshatch the cylinder. I was thinking I read that after intial breakin of rings the outer moly wears to the crosshatching but once that is gone the rings do not seat further? I was hoping to buy a couple good pistons for 30 to 40 dollars for both. |
