So update on my bike. They did total her.

So i have two options, both pay off the lone. One way i can buy her back and get a check for about 1400 OR they keep her and i get 2500. And i still get whatever they deem my gear worth. I'm guessing around 550.

As much as i would like to get her back i think i'll go with the 2500 check. That plus what my gear will get me should be one hell of a down payment on the 300.

We are going to talk to a layer too...

Bummer... unfortunately this is probably usual given the lower prices for the 250/300. I hope contacting the lawyer helps! Good luck with the upgrade to the 300, I promise you'll love the extra power (make sure you get the new ECU settings)!

Since there was frame damage, any repair is going to cost at least the amount of straightening or replacing the frame. Then add in all the other bits. So, take the money and run to get that 300.

Which sucks with all the mods you already made.

You MAY be able to part it out and get more than that 1100 back if you really wanted. TONS of people want new gen forks in good condition, pre gens are always looking to swap swingarms and all that for a 17inch conversion. Engine and trans were low mileage and good condition, so i would imagine theres money to be made if you really wanted.

It was a thought but my boyfriend has enough on his plate taking care of me. Not going to add that to it. And it less painfully to just let her go then to watch her get stripped down slowly.

No arguement here. Just figured since it appears you wont be able to get on any bike for a while it was an option. Take the cash, wait for the season to end and put it towards a 300 (or whichever bike you choose) then.

Sorry to hear about your crash. With that hand though, you should definitely talk to a lawyer and get some cash. I hope you heal well and quick.

Never really updated this thread but just found out i will need a 2nd surgery to remove the hardware in my thumb... Just needed someplace to vent.
Got to go in on the 1st, and have to use some vacation time for that the day after and the followup 2 weeks after...
At least its a simple in and out. May be another scar though. Could be worse i guess.

The lawyer has been great at least.

And the scar isn't to bad.

Well, feel better now. Back to my corner.

Nj is a "no fault" state. So my insurance takes care of me and his takes care of him. So the lawyer is going to be fighting to get me what progressive and my health plane don't cover. Just have to wait till the doc releases me befor they can move foward with the case. This just delays it more.
I am kinda happy I don't have to live with the hardware in my hand.
And I got my 300. Just have to try to keep looking at the bright side of things.

I didn't realize that NJ was so different in it's insurance policies. So in a "no-fault" state the accident is always "no-fault" unless there's a court case or something?

I thought it had something to do with the amount of old people driving in florida, blind old people driving = horror stories. As for NJ the general consensus is that NJ drivers are assholes even by NYC and Boston standards.

that realization does more for your safety than you can realize. To ride like a lackadaisical driver puts you at far more risk than riding aware of the problems and preparing for driver stupidity. My daily commute is filled with unbelievably stupid/angry/aggressive drivers since it puts me on the highway during rush hour. I typically see 1-3 accidents per week within a 5 mile span of highway where everything slows down already because they change lanes into each other without looking. I've had drivers change lanes into me. My immediate response tends to be flipping a birdie and lanesplitting away from the moron, usually 5-10 cars up is enough, doing any more would just add to the risk of someone switching lanes into me again except without the room to evade.

Is i'm not mistaken that's just referring to insurance. If the accident is deemed to be your fault you will still get a crap load of tickets and may have to appear in court, i think the guy that hit me did. And kiss your good insurance rates goodbye. lol

i have never been behind some one from Florida and not thought "they need to get the f outta my state" because they cant drive worth a ****. lol
As for us Jersey drivers, not nearly as bad as NY. Them guys are crazy! They have no room to talk. We just have a bad rap because we have perfected the "Jersey slide" and can navigate a traffic circle or jug-handle.

I'm not realy, they are just so sensitive for so long. My physical therapist told me it takes a year for them to "mature". Where it is it rubs with my jacket and glove, nothing a bandage or tape probably can't fix.

Scars are cool, more so when there's a good story with them. When i was coming outta anesthesia the first time the nurse was saying to use vitamin E to reduce the scarring, apparently i looked at her and said as much. I don't realy remember much till we were on the way home.

NYC drivers aren't the crazy ones, it's the bicyclists you need to worry about there. Them mofo's straight insane. They treat themselves like pedestrians with the rights of vehicles, which means they're vehicles with the rights of such except when it doesn't suit them. Hopping curbs, running red lights and stop signs without so much as a glance, and other hooligan-like riding.

I have lived in Flaw'da all my life. Things are changed here. We used to get retirees that moved here in swarms and stayed because of the once lucrative retirement benefits from the "rust belt". You had to careful of those bluehairs.

But they were not the most dangerous. You learned that any time you saw a Cadillac with no visible driver doddering down the road at 30 mph, to just stay well clear because they would not see you, and if they did it would take an hour for them to react to that realization.

I have often hear the "bad driver from Flaw'da thing. News flash! The actual bad Flaw'da driver in, say New Jersy, is in alien territory trying to navigate on unfamiliar roads. Modern navigation systems greatly relieve that issue if you have one. Here in Flaw'da, we think "snow birds are the worst drivers, and the reason is simple, they don't know the territory either, plus in a lot of cases, they are "older" and lack sharp mental focus. And I will bet that a lot of "bad Flaw'da drivers up narth are not actual Faw'idians.

By far the worst drivers are those that allow life to overload them when they are behind the wheel, either from some "need" to be constantly "connected" or in the case of the absolutely WORST, "Soccer Mom" with a load of kids.

Part of it is easy to solve. Plan an itinerary, organize, and place in action. Turn off the com devices when driving, or put in silent mode. Very few things can't wait a bit. I saw a min van swerving around the other day. Momma had the cell phone clamped to one ear, and was actually taking the ONE free hand and batting a at kid intermittently with it. Fracking completely insane, period.

The bicyclists are a growing problem. It is getting better though. In some areas the police are starting to enforce rules of road and obstructing traffic violations.

Well, got all the hardware removed yesterday.

The nurse that called the day before said to be there at 12:15... We get there around 11:30 or 11:40... Are told we are almost 2 hours early.
The say we should have been there at 1:15
And then i don't get wheeled in until 2pm.

Bright side it was less then an hour and we got home by a little after 4.

Have to keep the bandages on for 2 weeks now so no riding
But its looking very rainy so, meh probably wouldn't be able to get out anyway..

I hate these things...

What i have to deal with for the next 2 weeks.

I know.

Boyfriend took the bike in for the recalls yesterday so I don't have to worry about that when I get the bandage off.

Haha, thanks. Can't wait to see what it looks like when the new stitches come out. The cut along the same scar.

As for the legal stuff, not much yet. Not much will happen until the doctor fully releases me. Then the fun begins.
