New to the forum, pics inside.
Hey guys, newb checking in with my 2007 Ninja 250 that I picked up a couple months ago. A little background story: I haven't been on a bike in almost 15 or so years. My brother had a Kawasaki dirt bike from the late '70's that we literally beat to death. After that, the desire to ride fell to the wayside....until a year or so ago.
I wanted to get back into riding again, so I started doing research on what type of bike I wanted. I remembered that I was a pretty horrible rider when I was a kid and I did a lot of dumb ****. So I figured that I probably didn't want to hop right on my dream bike to dump it learning how to ride again. I was seriously eyeing up the new CBR 250R. I had gone to my local dealer and priced it out and I was ready to purchase it when a friend and I started talking about it and told me that I shouldn't waste 4K on a beginner bike, and pushed me towards a first gen Ninja 250. So, I stumbled upon this within my first week of looking We emailed, set up a meet and checked it out Purchased it a few days later, being that I still didn't have my permit and that rear tire was horrible, she got towed home The bike ran fairly well, could be better. So I did a couple small things to bring it back up to a starting point. The plugs I pulled out were Autolites, the oil filter bolt must have been put on with an impact because I absolutely destroyed it, ended up taking it off with the biggest pair of channel locks I had. Ordered a new filter bolt, put everything back together. Also cleaned the stock foam air filter. The bike runs 100% better. It fights less starting/warming up, acceleration is smoother, its just a overall happier bike. Next was getting it prepped for inspection, which really only consisted of new tires. I do not care for the stock Dunlops, I decided to try out the Shinko tires. Just had everything done at the bike shop this past week, brought her home cleaned and waxed. And that's pretty much it so far. I've been toying with the idea of the Two Brothers Slip ons, but I haven't made my decision yet. I don't want to dump a bunch of money into it, I do like the bike though. She is very forgiving for some of the newb mistakes that I make from time to time. |

Nice bike!!
I would just leave it stock if you are planning on getting your dream bike once you get the hang of riding. But you may decide that you can't part ways with the ninja once you have ridden it for a while. |

Congrats on the "new to you" bike, and getting back into riding. And welcome to the site, too.
