Bent frame holes for footpeg

Hello to all the ninjette riders in the world! I'm writing from Argentina, I'm new here but not new to the Ninja, owning one from at least 6 years!

I need some help with my bike, after an accident I let it sit for a while and now I'm trying to get it to perfection again. I'm almost done, except for this:

Yeah, that's what the title is about... Sorry for the quality, photo looked good in the small cell phone screen.

Another angle and footpeg installed, to remark the angle:

So, I tried to bend it back using the footpeg but it didn't budge (I don't have the strenght I suppose). I don't want to break the footpeg from excessive force so I didn't use leverage, and I'm not sure that it will be adequate. Should I try to bend it back with something? Maybe hammer it into shape?

Any insight will be appreciated!

Regards from Argentina.

Welcome Xan!

The fix for that is to straighten that out as best you can (leverage required) and have a backing plate welded on from behind. Drill and tap holes so they line up with the original ones and get some longer screws to hold the rearset on.

It's a known weak point in the frame.

You probably want to heat with a torch and bend with a pipe wrench.
Bien benido!

Thanks for the help! I don't suppose there's some tutorial to follow the process?

What's the best way to straighten this? The only thing I have to use as leverage is the footpeg itself and pulling but I don't want to break it. Any other thing or tool for the job?

Hello! My first idea was using a wrench and bend it back directly, but the the holes and treads in the frame are "sandwiched" between 2 metal parts. I can't bend the front part (the one in the photos) without an ungodly amount of strength and the back plate bending also. I will try a torch if it makes it easier since the paint is scrapped already and I don't worry about burning it.

Thanks for the input!

Gonna need some heat and something to pry with... I've use everything from screwdrivers (huge ones), monkey wrenches, adjustable wrench, anything big enough you can make fit, I def wouldn't pry it with a new foot peg, a old broke one could help... Never the new one

You should end up doing something like this.

Tonight I'll try. Just need to find the right tool for the job. I don't have an old footpeg and a new one here is unavailable and expensive so I won't be using my only one for that.

I'll update soon. Maybe my experience can help others in the future.
