Itching to fix

I have gotten hooked on fixing bikes (or at least attempting to).

Streetfighter'd a friend's R6, then did a bunch of mods to my pregen; and restored a ZX600R from the bowels of rust.

Now I want to do more.

http://seattle.craigslist.org/oly/mcy/4167958924.html

Unfortunately, I'm still trying to sell my pregen; if she doesn't sell by January I may street fighter her with respect to Chicago Bob's build.

Any helpful advice to push me down the deep hole of motorcycle tinkering or save me from it?

Did you notice the "no title" part?

Motorcycle tinkering could be very frustrating for the wrong person and very calming for the right one.
You need to discover what kind of person you are before investing much into it.

If only it had a title...

I would be worried about putting time and effort into something that might not even be streetable.

It gives me great joy to work on bikes, cars and anything else with an engine. Then there are other times, where I disdain every moment. If you can find peace in it 100% of the time, please share the secret.

Good luck and wrench on!

Recently restored a 94 ZX600C, which is the same bike.

I love working on bikes, HATE working on cars.

You can title anything if you know what your doing... Not that I personally would do something not just so, but I do know people that know people that just happen to know people

The airbox is missing boots.

Any specific recommendations for pods or a quad filter?

Recommend you don't. Have you felt for any punctures in the airbox under the sticker? I am always suspicious of those.

The airbox is such a pain though, but I've done my research to know that pods have their own issues as well. You suggest I keep the airbox and find some boots?

No, I haven't seen the bike in person yet. I'll have a chance to look at her on Monday and doing a teardown and inspection.

Why is the airbox a pain? I think rejetting is more of a pain, but I guess it depends if you are going to do any air flow modifications. What really helps is if you cut the battery box off the airbox. Carburetor work is a lot easier after that. Yes, I suggest finding the boots. They should be easy to find.

I picked up a fairly cheap Vance and Hines exhaust to help my street fighter design. I do know jetting is a pain, but I want to learn how to do it.

Hm. I don't recall the battery box being attached to the airbox on the zx600Cs.

Forgive the pro paint skills. Yellow is entire airbox, Red is where the air filter slides in and is covered by an 'L' shaped intake. Blue is empty inside.

Unfortunately it is attached on this bike. The battery box is just aft of red.

Pods would complement the streetfighter look I think. In that case you will want to convert the crankcase to airbox breather tube to a filter as well.

Here is a link to some useful information.

Just tore her down a bit, the battery box is part of the undertail.

I think what you are looking at is the fender just below tool tray.
In the following picture, the battery box is just above and to the left of the black cap for the coolant reservoir. The tool tray space is just above and to the right of the same cap.

Another view of the battery box, from the top. It has two bolts in the bottom. The space for the tool tray is just aft and out of view of the camera, underneath the little lip of the removable part.

Here is a link with a possible removal procedure and plenty more pictures:

Thorough explanation, but that's a ZX-6(R) (ZX600D/E+), not a Ninja 600R (ZX600C).
