my cafe build.

well its still a work in progress but i wanted to put pictures out there to get some feed back.
i picked up this 2004 ninja with only 5k miles on it. the guy wanted 1300 for it originally but i managed to talk him all the way down to 700 based on the fact that it needed tires, front turn signal was cracked, the timing chain had a lot of slack and noise, the carbs needed rebuilt, needed fork seals and a few more things. most of which doesn't bother me since i like to get my hands dirty.
so first things first i stripped down all the plastics and began cleaning and hunting for hidden issues.

turns out the timing chain slap came from who ever took the auto tensioner out last to look into the motor(i guess) forgot to release the screw on top to allow the plunger to drop again, so that was a simple fix, next was the turn signals, since i was removing them anyways i didn't care, so off they came too.

I'm still on the hunt for tires for a decent price ,

replaced the headlight with a single 7'' round, and some chepo turn signals just to get it road ready while i decided the actual signals i want. also swapped out the rear for a dual taillight with turn signals integrated.

and the biggest change of all is the color, as you can see i attempted to FAUX rust the fender and headlight to give it an old weathered look, the headlight i was happy with but i couldn't get the fender right and i didn't wanna try on the tank until i got the fender just right, so with the exception of the headlight i went to all olive drab green plasti dip.

couple this i still wish to accomplish, i still need to cut the rear of the frame and build a cafe seat for it, i haven't yet because I'm just ready to ride it. i still need to do the fork seals but that'll be a day when I'm really bored
i have OD green exhaust wrap that i still need to install, and a vapor tach/speedo to install, just waiting for a new magnetic bold for the speedo pick up..

so i had a few weeks to get things done and have obviously been slacking on the project.
i made a temporary mount for the trail tech just to make sure it all worked, since i bought it used. but haven't decided on a permanent mount yet, any ideas ??

decided to yellow my headlight, just for another kinda old school look.

and she is finally ready to ride. exhaust wrapped in green wrap and bar end mirrors.

I'm still in need of tires. my next plan is to cut away the back of the frame to make room for a flat seat and a hoop on the frame, cafe style.

then brown leather for the seat and brown grips. whenever i can find some ..

I gotta say, that yellow aero was NOIIICE, but a cool build nevertheless.

How steady is that mount for the Vapor? Road vibration-wise.

I still have all the body parts Incase I decide to sell..
And it's just plastidip

The mount is no good at all honestly , it bounces a lot and hits the headlight, it was supposed to be just temporary while I figured out a better mount but I still haven't come up with anything better yet..
