Oh the pain!!!!

Laid the bike down on the highway today. A sudden rain downpour and new asphalt took me by surprise. I was doing 55mph but i was wearing my protective gear. Only a few stitches on my leg. Insurance will repair the ride and I should rollin again with two weeks.

Gear FTW! Plan an easy day tomorrow, you might be sore.

Was it all that new construction on 71? I pass through there fairly often on my way to the track. They have it destroyed for miles and miles .

Yep, 71 is a mess. Humps and bumps everywhere. Uneven layers of pavement. A definite nightmare. I did have the medics laughing because I kept telling them to check the bike first.

That's scary! Has always been one of my fears in the construction zones. Lately I'v been trying to just hop off the highway and bypass them.

That section of 71 is an accident waiting to happen. I think the last two times I've driven through there, I've seen multiple accidents each time.

Glad you're doing alright! Only needing a few stitches after a 55 mph slide is pretty impressive. Do yourself a favor and buy a lottery ticket

Same here and seen a couple of HDs down between cbus and mansfield a couple of trips ago. It didn't look good. And the 5.0 presence is large and in charge. Don't speed through there, you will get a ticket. It has already cost me an extra $110.

And the bummer about it is, there is no good way around it all without adding major time to your drive. Your just stuck, as it's the only major freeway.

I learned a couple things. 1. I need to get protective pants also. 2. Check weather reports more before riding on the interstate. 3. Helmets save lives.

Pics and Cost

Sorry for the delay in getting these out. Ask Powersport is doing the repairs. Total is $3800.00. Thats before my $500.00 deductible. They told me yesterday I should have it back in 3 weeks.

What am I missing? That looks like about $600-$700 in parts and 2 or 3 hours of labor max.

Right Fairing
OEM Exhaust
Right indicator
Right Mirror
Bar end

Yeah, I wasnt expecting it to be that much either. It's the same store I purchased it from. I couldn't find anywhere else in my city. According to them, when I get it back it will be back in showroom condition.

He probably didn't need to do anything wrong to go down there. I have family in Gahana, so I drive up that way quite a bit and it is an absolute disaster. I don't even like driving my car up that way anymore.

bikes don't crash themselves. there is always a reason that a bike crashes. if you don't understand the reason the bike crashes, you are going to crash again.

I rode right into an unexpected ran storm. I was only in it 10 seconds when my front tire hit a patch of new asphalt and the wheel turned out of my control. I just let the bike go and started praying.

i don't like to push things on people but your explanation is very vague and suggests that you don't really understand why you crashed.

Cool

You really look ready to roll in that picture, Moses !!!

You put some lateral load on that front patch (steering or braking) while there were ball bearings under it.
That is what happens as soon as drops start falling: the oil and dust on the road float and form a super-slippery paste with little water.

It is better to get off a busy road before the first drops of rain fall and wait 10 or 15 minutes until all that grime has been washed off and traction is good again.
