Motorcycle(s): 2011 Ninja 250R

New rider

hey guys, i bought a 2011 ninja 250r about a week ago and im loving it im located in brisbane australia, currently learning to ride so i can get my licence.
i just have a few questions for the mean time...
1. im am insuring my bike but it comes up with two models JCF and JBF. how do i tell which is mine?

2. the tacho doesnt work...ive read some of the threads already and ive done some troubleshooting ( checking the wiring and battery). any help?

insurance - model may say on the title.
tack - not sure if there is a relay or a fuse that might need checked.

Atm it's my little black rocket haha but the girlfriend calls it's the black slut cause I spend more time with my bike than her haha

in the older model there is a fuse that would stop the tach from running is you look at the wiring diagram HERE being that the ninja's really didn't change that much from generation to generation I would look there. Same thing happened to my VFR once but it was the rest of the cluster that went out, so I swapped the fuse to I could get to the store to get a new one. So I had no tach but had everything else working. I would look there.

Also
i went to check the fuses but i couldnt find the fuse. so i checked the wiring and there is a constant power, variable power and ground. all of them work but the tach still wont move...

For your insurance, you should be able to type in the VIN alone and it'll figure it out for you.. (with Geico, at least)

For the tach, check out this thread: http://faq.ninja250.org/wiki/Speedometer_Error

It may or may not help.. Not sure how different the new bikes are!
